No. 2, let’s fix this educational gap on #slavery right now:

Where my Early African American scholars who specialize and/or have a book focused on #slavery ?

Let’s get a roll call—respond to this post w/ your book or article & I’ll quote you.

I’ll 📌 this.

PS Non-scholars, remain silent. 😊🙏🏾

The older I get the colder I get. I’m always cold now. This one isn’t in any of the guidebooks.

The Louisiana argument is essentially that you CAN use race to be racist but you CAN'T use race to ameliorate racism.

Locking in for oral arguments on the big voting rights case at the Supreme Court.

The next two hours or so will be... incredibly bad.

Voodoo remains my favorite album of all time. I still listen to it constantly. Everything about it was brave, from how it was made to that one note in Devil’s Pie. This is tragic. RIP.

Professor, I’m taking this so hard. I thought of him as my baby brother—seven years younger than me. I can’t believe he’s gone!

The yr I turned 51, I almost lost my mind. My father had dropped dead on the sidewalk from a massive
brain hemorrhage when he was 51 & I was convinced that such would be my fate. I have blessedly lived two decades & three years since then, and my ❤️ breaks that D’Angelo is gone, too soon, at 51. RIP

Sending you the roots, too. The only thing that helps a little bit is knowing he was so very loved. 💜

Same. I’m trying to finish these taxes for tomorrow’s late filing and I just have no energy.

Every time I see a new post about him, I just keep saying, “how could this happen?”

I guess I’m supposed to be surprised?

Rest in Power Miss Major.

I was so fortunate to profile Miss Major for SF Weekly.

From her political education from the leaders of the Attica prison uprising and getting knocked out by a cop at Stonewall to performing in the Jewel Box Revue and founding TGIJP, she led an extraordinary life.

I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

A mom in Houston reported her 15-year-old son with autism missing. She spent 6 days terrified, searching for him. The whole time, Houston police knew exactly where he was since they helped ICE place him in a refugee facility.

This is beyond cruel.

I used to think people just didn’t understand what Columbus did but now I think some are really attached to him (as opposed to other worthy italians to celebrate) because their whole thing is not only getting away with doing horrible things but forcing everyone to praise them for being horrible
