it doesn't seem like curiouscat or askfm or anything are around anymore, so I'm gonna pose the question here: what are some questions you have for me or topics you'd like to see me cover on my blog? I'd like some material for shorter essays, since my own always balloon out of proportion lol
everyone is gonna choose their inputs, but you can also choose who you listen to based on their inputs (and if you're making this argument in context of CAGs... why the fuck should I listen to you? play TAP already)
the resistance to "you control the buttons you press" has taken the play out of the game, in some unsound method of analyzing the game in a pure setting and denying its existence as expressed through the player's inputs
we gotta dial it back on the militant "the designer is responsible for making the design space lock-tight and removing all exploits or overly efficient actions" rhetoric. really throwing the baby out with the bathwater here
the biggest episode we've done in a while, it's a full-game look at boku no natsuyasumi 2! the whole crew jumped in to try to play this every day for all of August and soak in the culture of rural japan. one of the best games I've played in a while youtu.be/D3FVgL-Yiv8
An unforgettable month with Boku no Natsuyasumi 2

sorry for the wait.

as frustrated as i've been with the editing process on this one, it speaks volumes that rewatching some of these scenes and listening to the music again effortlessly stirred up those same powerful emotions i felt while playing boku no natsuyasumi 2.

please enjoy.
I think it'll be easier to look back on once it goes out of style, bcs this particular era of remakes has a distinct character and advertising style that's completely separate from many other remakes worth investigating from the '90s/'00s
in a world where high quality PSP emulation and hunsterverse exist we shouldn't need to talk about wilds all the time when we could just be playing fu/p3rd, right?
the monhun discourse is making me want to go back and finish freedom unite. I need to drop the "it's AI-manipslop" take and end all of the revisionist history stuff once and for all
it's such a shame because it's incredible if you play it to push the combat but it makes the egregious on-ramp in most of the entries unbearable
in the first of what will hopefully be many everybody's golf reviews (and maybe just golf in general?), I finally finished the campaign for the ps4 everybody's golf soft reboot. a heart-breaking progression system for such awesome course design. link below!
the latter is unfortunately the downfall of many routing games... (before someone pulls up anything I've said about mgs3, it's really in the former category, or gets a perfect Border Bonus for sitting *right* on the fine line)
surprisingly fine line between "the game's esoterica actually expands the depth of the game and adds options to the decision-making" and "there's next-to-no merit for this game's design unless you're primarily concerned with Knowing Things about games"
for me it's more likely that I'll go back for games I really love and play a version with shittier performance just to try it out lol
would be interesting to apply a stricter par system to arcade-style games as an alternative to the 1cc system (works best in discrete-encounter games)
2) golf is a well-established spectator sport and highly competitive (something not common for many single-player games)
3) golf experts aren't assumed to have expert knowledge of other sports (whereas game critics often end up being generalists for better or for worse)
interesting as compared to our game design microsphere, although golf is better culturally understood for a few reasons:
1) the handicap system is well established and new golfers understand that they won't be getting anywhere near close to par for years and years (if ever)
reading through golf design materials, and it's interesting that the best modern courses are moving towards holes with a wide range of options, where high handicap players can slop through comfortably while scratch players will have to pursue risky/uncomfortable shots to hit par
*did recognize but couldn't place who they were lol
was confused at this sports player I didn't recognize in some of these ads during the world series, but it finally clicked that it was reilly from letterkenny, and that's when I realized I had been watching the Canadian broadcast this whole time

Yesterday my friends and I got in a terrible life-threatening car accident. While we walked away with no bodily injuries, my car is totaled. As a Behavioral Technician that travels between counties for work, reliable transportation is needed. Any donations or shares are appreciated ❤️

the anime really feels aimed towards the "he's literally me" audience that actually can resonate with denji/aki/power like a normal shonen triad, and the manga is too concerned with persistently overturning that structure and snuffing out feeling to properly adapt into that format uncritically
gf pulled out the volumes and I was shocked (haven't read in a while), first hour is like five chapters stretched out in nauseating detail without any ability to add substantive characterization. impossible to let this arc stand on its own and they just give up by the time they hit the fight
