Arnoud Sonnenberg is a distinguished cell biologist who served as a Journal of Cell Science Editor for 19 years. He is a Professor Emeritus at Leiden University and a retired Group Leader at the Netherlands Cancer Institute, The Netherlands, who has investigated how integrins mediate interactions between cells and the extracellular matrix.
