Heritage buses will run on the 54 bus route, Blackheath -> Elmers End, on Saturday 13 September

Title: Route 54 Heritage Day, Saturday 13 September 2025

Come for a ride on heritage buses through Blackheath, Lewisham, Catford and Beckenham as part of our programme of bringing buses out of the museum to run again.

We will be running buses from the 1930s to the 1980s from about 9:30-17:00, which will be joined by other buses from private owners. It's completely free and you can ride with us all day.

This special service is not part of Transport for London but will run along regular route 54 services, on which normal fares apply.

Shirley Church Road (Croydon) and College Road (Dulwich) targeted in recent days.

Research with @transenv.bsky.social finds that average bonnet height in newly-sold cars is increasing by 0.5cm a year, reaching 83.8cm in 2024, up from 76.9cm in 2010.

This increases severity of crashes & reduce drivers’ visibility. Clear need for regulation.
