Here's a consolidated thread with some of our more recent #SingleStair explorations.

We've been doing these with the aim to influence vancouver zoning and building code deliberations, and because we want to understand what the potential is.

First up: 33x122 lots, 4 and 5 storey, fronting a park
My hope would be that combo is more diverse.
Still great things like this grade separated bike lane next to @metrolosangeles.bsky.social are being put in.
Any takeaways from value vintage?
A word of caution from Nashville -
lower broadway (particularly in party buses and pedal taverns) has pushed the center of downtown away from our entertainment zone as professional businesses became wary.
Love seeing folks buying and selling icecream on the Metro :)

It makes for a more lively, sociable, and safe place.

Did you know that cash users still pay their fare when the TAP is out of order?

On both outbound and inbound #8 the TAP payment system wasn't working and phone/card users just hopped on.

@smbigbluebus.bsky.social is this equitable service delivery? Think about the demographics of cash users.

Here's the typical landing at each level (with a view).

When I arrived I opted to climb the flights to the 5th floor vs taking the elevator. Secondary security is handled with a fob access at each floor.

If I organized conference sessions, webinars and meetings on the following topic, would you want to be part of one?

FIXING AMERICA’S BROKEN CODES: When it comes to safety and affordability, the US isn’t doing well. Our fire and traffic death rates are far higher than in many other nations.🧵
Update!
I had not realized this @culvercity project included a grade separated bike lane 🚲🏁
I feel that there is a way for us as planners to *both* admit fault in planners as experts AND provide technical assistance through our role as mediators to ultimately enable builders who want to park less to do so, to do so more quickly, and to do so with our backing.
To do so, I would posit may:
a) equity: allow novice / small developers more chance at initial success
b) lean urbanism: give the bank a number to point at
c) advocacy: introduce macro societal pressures to park less (say the planner as to advocate for community air quality)
