And when I am finished, I will return and partake in your company myself, for if I have learned anything from my experiences here, it is the boon companionship grants even in the darkest of times. This I can allow myself to admit.
I cannot always stay by its side even when I might wish to, but now I needn't worry, for I have little doubt the friends it has found in you both will see it given the care and comfort it so desperately deserves.
My thanks to you both. I bear many responsibilities, chief among them what little remains of my family, but so too is Pharloom owed a great debt by my own foolish actions. As regrettable as it may be, I must leave it to its hurts, for they are not detrimental to its survival when this kingdom's are.
My plea to you is this, where Hallow is yet unused to forming such tangible words for all to see. Visit it tomorrow, you and your brother, in my absence. It asks your company, and I too would take comfort in knowing someone is there to soothe its recent hurts.
It feels only right I should leave the other thread where it is, and so I take to this one with an answer and a plea.

I will secure the photograph, yes, but the choice to cull the mad beasts along the way is mine, for there are but few others up to the task.
Will you allow me to show this conversation to Hallow? That it might judge your feelings for itself, and understand, as I have come to?
From the start I believed I had some inkling as to why you insisted so, but it's much clearer now, painfully so. Little more is there for me to say, but that I am grateful for your assistance, ever more grateful now that I know well its source...
You will excuse my lack of sufficient response. Such information has been... difficult to process. I am only grateful to have found you.
I see now the motivation behind your actions with much clarity. For the better, I begin to understand you, and why you have taken to my sibling so.
You... weren't allowed to read? To venture outside?
In my earlier journeys throughout Pharloom, by request, and later for my own sake, I took to compiling such records of creatures regularly encountered. A field guide of the bugs, rather than the flora, one might say. If you're interested, I'll show it to you when next we meet.
Yet it's in my own nature, I must admit, to want to protect it from everything possible, even things I could not know, even if it doesn't need my worry.

Technical artistry I can manage well enough. Never before did I give much consideration toward it as a skill, but I suppose it would be.
It is inquisitive by nature. Now that we know, too, of its preference for regular nourishment, I cannot fault it for attempting to add to its stock of choices. Raised in the confides of the royal palace, and later sealed for time too uncountable to compare, it has much to learn, as I once did.

Please, don't give up. I want you to keep living for both of us.
Too short has my respite been, spent idle amongst family and friendly faces. I can delay the tasks asked of me no longer, tomorrow I seek again Songclave for its weary survivors in need of supplies no simple courier can deliver safely. The roads between grow thick with beasts enraged and desperate.
draw them as accurately as a field guide requires. When the four of us some day strike out to collect images of these two kingdoms for easy portal access, we will pass enough of the relevant specimens for me to compile their own tome. This I will submit to another settlement for replication.
Luckily it seemed both unfazed by and uninterested in the taste of the berries, and the bloom it wanted only for the potential for nectar.

Assistance will not be necessary, though I thank you for the offer. I’ve come to know these lands well enough I need only seek the specimens to
What I’ve witnessed in passing suggests mossberries have a tendency toward the hallucinogenic when consumed. The blooms, meanwhile, contain an awful toxin. One which I’ve come to use on rare occasion to lace my tools with, so effective is the potency.
// Definitely wouldn’t doubt that’s the case then 😭 Wish I knew how to fix it though, RIP both of us
// Do you/have you in the past used the translate app a lot? Mine sometimes does the same thing but with French (which I was studying/translating often), even though none of the dictionary settings include other languages. So I can only guess it’s just the phone making “smart” assumptions
The concept exists, though rare in both kingdoms I have known. Aquatic bugs both edible and plentiful enough to be harvested are a commodity reserved to the elite, or were, and have always been considered a delicacy. The failing ecosystems see their place as a food staple all but eradicated.
Despite the somewhat rocky start, this, by comparison, sounds more an explanation for her dogged pursuit, rather than a thinly-veiled threat.

Her tone cools to something almost kind. “But I have heard your claims, that you are here not for conflict, but to recover. Will you tell me of your foe?”
The uncertainty of who or what she deals with to cause such a sensation is absent from her voice; still firm, still evasive, if curious.

“You did not intend to be seen by me, then. A bold choice it would have been, all the same. I take not kindly to those who might pose a threat.”
Given her family, she is well tuned to minute changes in body language and what such slight gestures might intentionally or unintentionally convey. A sense of unease settles over her like a chill at the notion he had known her own thoughts, and she finds herself again looking away.
