Hot Take: The fares should have been higher but included fare capping to reduce costs on regular riders. I would honestly be ok with a fare as high as $3.50 if it meant I wouldn't pay more than $7 in a day (2 taps) or $28 in a week (8 taps), or $98 in a month (28 taps).

Here is a detailed list of all the fare changes happening across the RTA. Pace fare increases are generally 10% with Metra's ranging between 10-15%. CTA's is all over with anything other than one-way fares up 15% plus, including 20% on most passes and 50% on the RCP.

My understanding is that open carry was originally done so people would not conceal carry back in the “Wild West” days but now (I.e. in the past 125 years) it’s completely unhinged behavior used by wannabe suburban thugs.
