& maybe it’s vain to want “even breasts” but when one of them is a whole size bigger than the other, your bras & clothes don’t fit right & it can get very uncomfortable, annoying, expensive to figure out ways around it without surgery.

Just here to pose the perspective that getting breast implants isn’t always just bc you want larger breasts. Sometimes, people have to get partial or full mastectomies on one or both breasts. It can leave them very uneven so they suggest breast implants.

Breastfeeding can also make them uneven.

I’m definitely guilty of tone policing & it’s 100% my own insecurities so i will admit to that. Thank you for pointing this out & reminding me to put in extra effort to stop tone policing.

IRL is best bc having these convos in comment sections is so delicate anyone can tone police or misinterpret

Now that you’ve stated that, i can tell you that my entire thread wasn’t directed at your anger towards gaylors dismissing POC. My post was a reminder that most people don’t even know they are being harmful bc they were never taught any different & we should remember that when we are teaching them

Treating racists with silk gloves is so enraging! But that’s NOT what i’m asking of everyone. I’m talking about our approach towards the subset of people who *don’t know they are being racist/sexist/classist etc* - they need to be educated bc they don’t know any different. Hope that makes sense🤍☮️

I think your intention is to right the wrongs & help make people aware, but i also see you are very passionate in your comments & it can come off as judgmental which runs the risk of making the person you are trying to teach feel bad instead - psychologically, you’ve lost any influence on them now

mostly teaches us to be classist, racist, sexist, homophobic. It is engrained into our society & we have to acknowledge that when we are trying to teach someone “everything you’ve been taught to believe & do & say is wrong is harmful”. Blaming someone for not knowing will make them less receptive

I never said we should ask POC to be more patient when someone is perpetuating racism. I said attacking an uninformed person for being uninformed isn’t going to get us anywhere. We don’t know what we don’t know. To understand internalized ‘isms, we need to be taught about it bc our world

(Pt5) where they are. Some people are so far into their bubble they have zero clue the things they believe/say/perpetuate are even harmful! We are all human & we should all do our best to see things from different perspectives. Our intention should be to educate & guide, not ostracize & chastise

(Pt4) having these important & necessary conversations. Attacking someone for not realizing they had internalized ‘isms is not the way to go about it. That will shut the person down, that will make them feel unsafe to ask questions & ask for help navigating this. We have to be mindful to meet people

I’m new to this world of unpacking my privilege & recognizing my internalized racism, internalized homophobia, internalized classism, & internalized misogyny. I made a choice to unpack all this, it was something i had to choose to do & it’s taken a lot of effort & constant work for a few yrs (pt1)
