thinking about the time a cool Instagram fashion account asked me to name my favorite products and i didn't know i was supposed to name fashion products, so i said pigeon food because i like feeding pigeons and their followers were like "why the fuck do i need pigeon food for my outfit?"

The Instagram account Saint featured me. The first slide says: "Derek Guy - Dieworkwear. Derek Guy is a menswear writer who has written for The New York Times, Esquire, and Mr. Porter. He also runs a menswear blog called Die, Workwear"

One of the slides showing my favorite products. It's it's a big bag of Hagen pigeon food. The food is fortified with the vitamins and nutrients pigeons need.

There is a character death that happens near the beginning of the story, and I feel like this has an effect on Tabbitha, because she sees how drastically it hits the family. She knows she can’t fill the space of this person, but her siblings do begin to rely on her more

Obviously the goal is to get Tabbitha to feel comfortable with her family and with the present reality. So, the ending will reflect something like this. It may not be sensational or whatever, but it will still feel like a conclusive ending (that’s my hope, anyway)

Originally, the story began with Tabbitha finding an object that didn’t immediately give her a vision, unlike the others. This frustrates her and makes her keep going back to it to try to “force” it out of it. I may keep this beginning

He blends into the city the way ash disappears into wind. People rush by, screens in hand, their minds fixed on scrolling without consciousness. A street vendor’s bark cuts through the crowd as he shouts, “No Pea Soup For You!” to no one in particular.

He sits on a bench, phone silent, thumb hovering over a list of names that used to mean something. Across the street, two strangers share a laugh, sudden and candid. The sound startles him.

For a moment, he imagines what it might feel like to belong in their world. The thought comes and goes, small as breath, leaving only the quiet knowledge that everyone else carries a life just as unreachable as his.

Yeah. Rejection was the worst thing for me when I was young, and it was what really dampened my passion for a while, unfortunately. Especially because I was just starting out and was otherwise excited and writing prolifically. Rejection over and over can really hurt. Especially when you’re 17-22.

I think the biggest hurdle for #witers w/ #ADHD is enduring the constant rejection…when you already struggle daily w/ #rejectionsensitivedysphoria.

On one hand, it’s handy bc you expect it, but it also makes maintaining hope a hell of a lot harder.

Tabbitha is very secretive and guarded. It takes a while for her to open up and be part of the family. She also tends to be too anxious at times. She does have some positive traits that the others point out to her, like her creativity and empathy, but she doesn’t notice until later

Well, for Tabbitha, really she’s her own enemy, in a way. She’s too focused on her own interpretation of reality to change her mind and see what’s in front of her. So, in a way, she is the reason for her own conflict 😅 Sounds a lot like me…

If nothing else, being sick has allowed me time to copy all my original notes on In Place of My Heart (IPM) so I can work on revising the plot. I’m glad I got that done. I am also upset that there is nothing to work with. The original plot I wrote is so boring 😅 So I have my work cut out for me…

The worst part for me is when the original draft is too bad to be salvaged so the whole thing has to be rewritten. All that time and work wasted. And now everything has to be redone 🙃 This has happened more than once for me because I wrote a lot when I was 17 & inexperienced

Tabbitha gradually warms up to the idea of connecting to her family because the siblings look out for each other and try to make her feel cared for. She is also motivated to connect to the siblings after a major plot point happens (spoiler) that causes her to take charge more
