The Conclusion!

Full shojo, fluff, and self-indulgence! I pulled some dialogue that Lich!Emmrich says for this. I think he’d come to the same realizations on his mortal path, he might just arrive there a bit later.

Necropolis | Spirits

Two pages today! I’ll be honest—I conflated spirits with wisps while writing this and, once I realized, I was too far in to change it lol. But Emmrich mentions the gardens so that’s the necropolis, too, right? 👀💦

In the top panel, Laelia faces forward looking up at three wisps that float around her, saying “these wisps again… there’s so many today.”

Laelia responds: “Oh? What are they then?”

Emmrich replies: “It took me a while to understand their exact nature, myself.”

On the next panel, Emmrich and Laelia are still in mostly the same view but the “camera” has zoomed out a bit, and all three can be seen from around knee-height. Emmrich is turned slightly, facing the camera more. Manfred is running towards the left, his hands high above his head as he plays with the wisps.

Emmrich continues: “At first, I thought they must be wisps of respect—perhaps admiration. But there was something… more. I didn’t see it at first or, perhaps, I simply couldn’t believe it. Not until we spent more time together, did their true nature begin to make sense.”

End page. Each sentence of that last paragraph is in. Separate bubble, wrapping around the page akin to a wisp flying. The last text bubble is loosely in the shape of a heart.

Page 5 of my Dragon Age the Veilguard fan comic for Emmrich Week 2025, featuring Emmrich, my Rook (Laelia), and now—Manfred!

The page is separated into five panels: two at the top, a long narrow panel in the middle, and two again at the bottom. The backgrounds are simple, paper and dry paint textured dark gray/green.

In the first panel, Manfred enters the frame waving and holding a small gift box tied up with ribbon. He shouts “Emmrriiccch! Roook!”

In the next panel, Emmrich stands behind Laelia with his hands on her shoulders. They both look at Manfred with delight. Emmrich greets him: “Ah! Manfred, wonderful of you to join us!”

In the middle panel, Emmrich and Manfred have met halfway, and Manfred hands the gift box to Emmrich saying “Present!”
Emmrich replies: “Thank you, Manfred! Very well done, my boy.”

In the next frame, Manfred gives Laelia a big hug, excitedly saying “Rook! Hugs!” Laelia has a big smile on her face and squeezes Manfred back.

In the last panel, a wisp flies between the two, surprising Laelia, who lets out a nondescript exclamation (!!).

Day 4/Page 4 of #EMMRICHWEEK2025 #GraveGold

Back to fluff with this page! I love the thought that Emmrich showers Rook in gifts of grave gold to build up their collection—especially a Rook that wasn’t already a Watcher.

The page is divided in half, with a panel at the top and a panel at the bottom. Emmrich and Laelia (Rook) from Dragon Age the Veilguard stroll through the memorial gardens in the top panel, Laelia grazing a gravestone with her fingertips as they walk past. Wisps surround them.

Emmrich comments: “I never imagined you’d learn to love this place. Yet, here you are—soon to take your vows as a Watcher.”

Laelia idly replies: “What strange turns out lives take, hmm?”

In the bottom panel, Emmrich embraces Laelia from behind, touching the gold jewelry on her neck and left hand. She looks up at him, beaming. Two smaller callout panels flank them, each focusing in on the jewelry she wears.

Emmrich says: “And you’ve begun amassing your own lovely collection of grave gold.”

Laelia replies: “With a significant amount of help from you, of course.”

Laelia expands on why she was uncomfortable with necromancy when she and Emmrich first met, and the two idly talk about the comfort the necropolis brings while the two walk towards the Memorial Gardens.

Emmrich and Laelia (Rook) from Dragon Age the Veilguard walk through the Vault of the Beloved. Day 2! Emmrich recalls Laelia’s former hesitancy around necromancy, noting the change with curiosity. (I know it’s a stretch with the prompt but cut me some slack :p)

I’ve made a fan comic, where each page was based (sometimes loosely) on the daily prompts, woven into a very self-indulgent and flufftacular story, featuring my Rook: Laelia Aldwir. I’ll post 1-2 pages a day!
