We should treat this as an opportunity to wrest control of what should be a community-led event away from corporate interests and back into doing some good for the community. No one is saying cancel Pride or the parade, but it has to be better or there's no point to it.

But that's the exact point though; Pride should be a godsdamn protest, not just a rainbow-flavoured street party. It has to be about more than just getting pissed on overpriced beer.

Between them not paying their artists, refusing to drop sponsors with ties to Israel and allowing lickspittles like Barclays to sponsor and be part of the pride parade you kinda have to wonder where all the money has gone.

I'm at the cinema tonight watching a 20th anniversary screening of Corpse Bride. I was wondering when I last saw it then suddenly realised it was in the cinema...the first time...20 years ago...

At which point I crumbled politely into dust.
