I don't think we can rule out there being a noasaurid that looks exactly like this just yet XD
Oh, i know, i simplified for the sake of character limits and a meme ^^; croc spinos (or even rexes!) still don't get a pass from me though lol
This is the kind of thing that gets me about things like croc-scuted spinosaurus recons and even the "scaly dinosaurs are scarier than feathered ones" crowd--most dinosaurs would look smooth at the scales (ha) we usually depict them at. Dinosaurs were smooth as hell!

Animated Scutellosaurus!! (Also Dilophosaurus, prosauropods, and dimorphodonts, but I think I've seen animations of all those before...)

Just imagine a spino sliding on slick mud... the indignity of it all 😔
Spicomellus might win for best weird thyreophoran, i love it! The big neck spines remind me of the anti-predation collars worn by flock guardian dogs--they definitely seem like they'd be effective deterrents to bites to the neck from taller predators 🤔

Hi all, me, @richardjbutler.bsky.social and the amazing UK-US-Moroccan team are delighted to announce that.. we have a new specimen of Spicomellus AND IT'S WAY WEIRDER AND WAY COOLER THAN WE EVER IMAGINED!!
nooooo i didn't know that was your panel, i wanted to go but ended up missing it! i'm glad it went ok, congrats!!
Train service to the late jurassic must be terrible, look how long they've been waiting!
Temporary exhibit on either paleoart or pterosaurs would be cool........
Considering the number of isolated crest specimens, i have to wonder if there are any enigmatic 'leaf' fossils that are actually drepanosauromorph flaps 🤔
Oh sure, those guys will run with any scrap they think is evidence for their side. But we don't have to pay attention to them :>
At the very least, the actual authors of the paper aren't arguing for that and point out that the structures are not at all feather-like. Based on the title alone I was concerned too lol, but no, birds are still dinosaurs

I am proud and grateful to present a dream project today in @nature.com www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Meet #Mirasaura grauvogeli, a #wonderreptilewith skin appendages that rival feathers and hairs, challenging our view of reptile #evolution🪶🦎
I'm not a scientist or anything, but yeah, i believe most birds initially propel themselves with their legs to get off the ground :>
Portfolio day would've been a great chance to look for artists who could paint my dragons the way i see them in my head -_-;
maybe uncensored nsfw content will finally get me to stop doomscrolling in the 'discover' tab :"D
I'm hearing that most theaters are going to pull it out of their offerings wednesday, might want to check wherever you're going isnt one of them!! @-@
Hey folks, i know it's been a while since i last posted; mostly been busy with things that don't quite fit here... but! i sat in on a video call discussing sauropods this weekend, and felt compelled to doodle some of the topics that came up--such as how sauropods managed to get any sleep
