Fourth and last of the old postcards of tombs at Carnac. This one is Le Mane Remor (obviously that e on Mane should have an accent on it but I can't for the life of me work out how to add one!).

Wolfsbane, or monkshood (Aconitum napellus), is a deadly flower tied to werewolf lore. In medieval Europe it was said to repel or cure lycanthropy, the power or curse of turning into a wolf. Some tales claim witches used wolfsbane ointments to change shape. #FairytaleTuesday
Collage of wolfsbane and werewolf lore. Top left: 1941 pulp illustration of a werewolf crouched in moonlit woodland (Weird Tales, “The Werewolf Howls”). Right and bottom: close-up photos of purple wolfsbane (monkshood) flowers with green foliage.

The transepted passage grave of Keriaval in Carnac (Morbihan) had a passage leading to 2 chambers on either side and a terminal cell though the chambers on the south are badly ruined. This card shows the NE chamber and the terminal cell beyond. #TombTuesday.

#RodentOfTheDay Indomalayan Pencil-tailed Tree Mouse (Chiropodomys gliroides) "

"The feet are short and adapted for climbing with opposable thumbs : the species rarely comes to ground."

#MouseMonday

This small mouse is characterised by its relatively long tail, which is equivalent to 135% of the head-body length. The soft fur on the upperparts varies from pale fawn to pale grey, and the underparts are white. The tail is generally hairy, ending in a brush-like tip. The head is short, the eyes relatively large, the ears rounded, and the whiskers long.

This picture shows the body of one mouse as it perches on the opening of a tree. There is another peeking from the hole, just its face visible.
