Our housing plan is working! I toured the soon-to-be opened Salus supportive housing building near the Cityview curling club. This will provide stable housing for older adults with a history of addictions, mental health challenges and homelessness so that they can age in place with dignity. #OttWN
Today I joined colleagues to announce a new rental construction project with 316 units in #OttWN! Through the Apartment Construction Loan Program, we are increasing the number of rental units to bring costs down. This demonstrates how government and the private sector can work together for results.
To everyone in Ottawa West-Nepean and beyond, I wish you and your loved ones a very Happy Thanksgiving!
Musicability is a wonderful program taking place at Britannia United Church that provides a fun space for individuals with developmental disabilities and autism to enjoy singing and music. I joined them for a wonderful afternoon singalong and saw the pure joy that this brings. Music is truly magic!
Pinecrest Terrace is a close-knit community where everyone looks out for each other. I was thrilled to join their family fun day, listen to neighbours and participate in a drumming circle. We hosted a pop-up constituency office. Thanks to all the volunteers who make this a welcoming community.#OttWN
I joined @mhottawa #rideforrefuge in Centrepointe, which raised $20,000 for an expanded furniture bank warehouse. Matthew House is so important in supporting newcomers when they first arrive. Many of those newcomers who were helped are now volunteering and contributing back to our community. #OttWN
What a beautiful day for the Qualicum Graham Park Community Association Fall Fun Day and craft fair. We have so many talented artists in our community. Great to see @lainejohnson_college and so many community volunteers. I absolutely loved the creative pumpkins from the carving competition. #OttWN

What a gorgeous day to spend with neighbours in Qualicum! Many thanks to the Qualicum-Graham Park Community Association for organizing a fun event. And thanks, too, to Councillor @jleiper.bsky.social , MP @anitavandenbeld.bsky.social , and Mayor Mark Sutcliffe for coming out!
Some poignant photos capturing the spirit of today’s ceremony on Parliament Hill in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, to reflect on the harms caused by colonialism, inter-generational trauma of residential schools, the current crisis of MMIWG, and the remaining inequalities. But it is also a day for hope - that we can heal the pain and move forward in a good way.
Lincoln Heights community, spitting distance from my constituency office, is a hidden gem. On the edge of Mud Lake, an ecological treasure, it’s a special neighbourhood. My team and I were thrilled recently to have a pop-up-booth at the Mud Lake community association summer fun day. #OttWN
It was a gorgeous day for our day of action. What a great team of volunteers to go door to door with me and find out the priorities of local residents, and issues they would like me to raise in Parliament. I had some great conversations. Thanks to the Liberal party volunteers who helped out! #OttWN
What a beautiful day for the McKellar Park Fall fun day. I met volunteers who taught me about their community rain garden, plant species that divert and clean rainwater runoff. I also discussed local issues with community leaders, listened to some great local musicians and saw the Dovercat mascot!
Sept 25th is Hazara Massacre Memorial Day. I met with community leaders in Parliament to commemorate the 1891-1893 genocide of the Hazara people in Afghanistan & also to commit to to ending ongoing persecution, human rights abuses & atrocities against Hazara peoples today, especially women & girls.
Ottawa West-Nepean has many innovative women-owned businesses. I recently joined our local City Councillor @lainejohnson_college at the @bbcafe_ottawa in the Bleeker mall on Merivale road for coffee and sweets. Amazing owners, ambiance and very tasty goodies! #ottwn
Last week I welcomed Winnie Byanyima and a delegation from UNAIDS that testified at Foreign Affairs committee about the alarming situation regarding HIV/AIDS globally if the current funding gap is not met. It is always special to reconnect with powerful women who make such a difference in the world.
This summer my team and I had opportunities to set up booths and meet with constituents. The Central Park community association held a fun and informative family fun day, with booths by community service providers, a bouncy castle and food. Thanks to community volunteers who made it possible! #OttWN
Shana Tova U'metukah! This evening marks the start of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. It is a festive time where families gather for meals, prayers, and reflection. To the Jewish community in Ottawa West–Nepean and beyond, I wish you a happy, sweet, and healthy New Year!
Autumn in #OttWN is full of community and flavours! I went to the Bayshore community oven where they baked creative flatbreads, then to Woodpark Common Ground community garden harvest festival and enjoyed music, poetry and fresh veggies. And finally I topped it off at the Fisher Heights Corn Bake!
In Edmonton we toured the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute where we met scientists who are applying AI in everything from medical ultrasounds, prosthetics, combatting online hate and more. With the support of our federal government, Canada will lead in innovation and the responsible use of AI.
During our National Caucus retreat, I visited the Edmonton International Airport where I visited the flight simulator and drove a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle with zero CO2 emissions. There is so much innovation happening in Canada, especially green innovation supported by our federal government.
While in Edmonton for our national caucus I visited the 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group at the 3rd Canadian Division Support Base. We heard from members of the PPCLI, combat engineers, medics and drone operators, and had a chance to go onto the various armoured vehicles. It was truly impressive!
I attended the Aero Gatineau Air Show where I met Dee - one of the first two women fighter pilots in the Canadian Armed Forces. I went inside the cockpit of the CC-130 Hercules, and watched the amazing Canadian Armed Forces Skyhawks and the Snowbirds! What a great show! @canadianforces.bsky.social
