one of the major differences between China and the US is that they put their wealth into cities and we put ours into rural and exurban areas.

Yeah, I think this is the key insight. Nobody here is capable of generating a theory of mind for the "moderate" Trump supporter or the indifferent in late 2025. It's like trying to see the world through the eyes of a turkey with brain damage. We're all feeling our way through the dark.

- more entertaining than I expected

the time period of One Battle After Another is interesting. They drive present day cars, use pre-smartphone cellphones, and the internet doesn't seem to exist. no mention of who is president at any time
