60 episodes of television that nurtured my love of animation (in chronological order, 1 per show). My 5th choice is Robotech (1978). My introduction to serialized anime and a very dated by very enjoyable piece of entertainment. I recently rewatched it and it's cheesy and dated...
...but an important part of anime history breaking through in the west. The episode I chose "Force of Arms"( ep.27) has it all. Hammy dialogue, soap opera romance, and many,. many space battles. Expect late 70's animation and ride this space opera.

I rewatched Elio and I still don’t get the hate this movie gets. Is it because something can’t just be good nowadays? The story is a little rickety, but there’s genuine emotion and the jokes land. It zips by. It‘s in the middle of my Pixar rankings. Worth watching.

... and you can see the stems of his work here (especially Castle in the Sky). The episode I chose was "The End of Industria"(Ep.25, 1978). Miyazaki needed to decide where to put his budget and time, and you can tell he put so much into the conclusion of the series. Watch the whole thing though.

… having said all that I LOVED all the acts. The first half was patient and impactful, and the second half had a chainsaw man riding a shark. I just wish they fit together better. B-
… It very much had different tonal whiplash and I feel a season would have fleshed out some of my main issues more. This is especially true with Reze’s arc (especially the final arc) and Denji’s reaction to it. It would have been more impactful if the shift wasn’t so sudden.…
Spoiler free overall thoughts- I am a defender of the first season of Chainsaw Man and don’t understand the backlash. The movie is overall successful but I do have some gripes. I’m glad it subverted expectations in the first half (I did not read the manga so I did not know where it was going).…
I admit I needed to go to group forums to find this episode, and I remembered this episode well. It's a fun episode that highlighted the sitcom aspect of the show. "Room for 2"(season 4 Episode 21, 1964.)

That‘s too bad. The director has a track record of good looking but poorly told movies.
Word of mouth (both good and bad) plus new trailers has really shifted around my animated projects I am looking forward to list.
I have a new worst animated movie of the year. Ugly and lazy storytelling in every way. At least Fixed - my previous worst of - was trying to do something. This is just lame.
… It’s a fairly consistent series so I didn’t narrow it down to one segment. They had no money or time so they concentrated mostly on jokes, and as groan worthy as they would often be the vaudevillIan bad puns are often chuckle worthy (very Naked Gun). Watch a segment for a quick pick me up

i see it’s online. I’m more curious on the differences from the Takahata version and what an older Mifune is like. I might scroll through it.
What a great thread.
More than half of Studio Ghibli's films are adapted from other people's work - and they aren't always the only adaptation. In this #GhibliSpotlight thread, let's look briefly at some of the other screen adaptations of Ghibli source material! 🧵 [1/13]
Mifune is enough to get me interested. I will look this one up!
… they were already 40ish years old and I showed them to my kids 20 years later and they STILL held up (some I avoided for cultural reasons). Duck Amuck also introduced be to breaking the 4th wall and Daffy‘s growing hysteria is hilarious. Not bad for a short from 1953.
… Jones was the first director where I became aware of his singular voice as an animator and looked for his name. So much personality in his characters and comic timing. (No offence to the other Looney Tunes directors). It’s pretty telling that when I was watching these…
