I’m so grateful that I live in a safe Green seat so won’t have to make that decision. Im guessing that Labour are betting on the fact that in the next election folks won’t defect (no matter how bad it becomes) because the alternative is a lot worse.

He then goes in to explain that “you’ve got a young daughter”. Considering the girl looks about 14 this didn't make sense. And if she had a young daughter you’d think she’d know it.

So now I’m thinking maybe this is a play she’s in and the guy is briefing her on her character?

First off it sounds like a police man giving somebody their cover story.

Or maybe a worried parent explaining to their daughter what they should do if they get pulled over by ICE.

Although it sounds like he’s explaining things which aren’t actually true.

“So you’re my daughter. Your name is xxx. You have two brothers. Remember, you’re my daughter. The name on your passport is xxx. You came here in xxx.“

The briefing goes on for a while with the guy reiterating that she was his daughter. My mind starts turning.

So here’s the scene. I’m finishing up breakfast in a NY diner. An older white guy who looks like a grizzled detective and a 14 year latinx girl come in and sit a few tables away from us. I assume its a parent daughter breakfast so think nothing of it. Until I overhear their conversation.

It’s interesting how binary some people’s thinking is. i.e. well it’s not practical to ask everybody for permission and we can’t not let AI succeed so the only option is to allow outright copyright theft with zero repercussions.

True. They buy from a supplier in the UK which refuses to supply print on demand titles. No such problem in the US. Or with the majority of other online UK book stores. Such a missed opportunity to support indie publishers like me in the UK.

Such a shame they don’t support independent authors in the UK, as they refuse to stock my book because its self published :(
