Three percentage points, or 69,745 votes statewide.

That’s the difference in 2024 that kept North Carolina from being a state that sat on the sidelines over SNAP.

Popok: The blue states and cities effectively brought the cases. The red states are suffering, and their AGs are sitting on the sidelines. There’s no red state that brought a case. Think about that: not one red state attorney general brought a case to help prevent starvation and suffering. None.

For the record, the officer I spoke with said Charlotte has about 1,900 active officers atm.
Prior reporting has said the fop group has 2k members, including retirees.
Thanks. Seeking parity in reporting and treatment of things like police groups and teachers’ groups.

We followed up with this question:

"Some political commentators have described Trump’s decision to deploy the military to U.S. cities without approval or permission by local officials as the actions of a dictator. Would you agree or disagree with that statement?"

Findings released tomorrow #ncpol
Tomorrow we release the following Catawba-YouGov Survey ?: "President Trump has recently used the military & National Guard to police cities in the U.S., often without approval from a mayor or governor. Do you support or oppose the use of the military & National Guard to police cities?"

I know open racism is disgustingly common, but I’m still of the belief that a school segregationist shouldn’t be eligible for this position

With news that 3 GOP US Representatives have asked for National Guard deployment in Charlotte (www.foxnews.com/politics/gop...), new Catawba-YouGov Survey of 1K NCians finds a plurality against such a move, with stark partisan differences #ncpol

I asked an active officer directly. No I won’t give his name.
Prompted by this @christadutton.bsky.social story from Notus/The Assembly.

Sure, the R congress folk and some media outlets will characterize the letter from FOP leaders to represent the whole group of 2k, but it’s wrong. Call them out.

House Republicans from N.C. Want the National Guard Sent to Charlotte
Reps. Pat Harrigan, Mark Harris, and Chuck Edwards signed a letter asking Gov. Josh Stein to deploy the state’s guard.

Also it’s probably not a “union” formally.
“The [Charlotte] police union wrote a letter to local leaders last month asking the city’s mayor, Stein and Trump to send in National Guard troops.”

Correct it. The local FOP did not vote on the letter. A few leaders of the group, which includes retirees, wrote it.

Dan Bishop’s territory would cover Orange County, home of UNC Chapel Hill.

Doesn’t cover Charlotte or military bases, I think.

Bad resolution map but you get the picture.

There were 13 elections last night for a statewide office.

Democrats swept all 13.

That’s 1 in NJ. 3 in VA. 2 in GA. And 7 in PA (all judges, retention and regular).

They won 12 of the 13 races by double-digits, with margins up to 24%. The only other race, the tightest, they won by 6%.

Rumors of my demise have been slightly exagerated. I am employed through Feb. 2, with the option to move back to North Carolina after that date. Please keep the scoops coming. #ncpol
