A report is out today that a hearse with a body was stuck in highway traffic, late to a funeral. Imagine being the person late to your own funeral. At least you wouldn’t be able to die of embarrassment.

My publisher’s been very patient. I’m not doing everything I said I’d do to promote this book (out in a few weeks) because I’m an organizer in a city under federal attack. My days are full and emotionally exhausting. Any help getting the word out means a lot. It's a book people need right now.

My partner advocated for a friend who got a new medical diagnosis that isn’t fatal as per her previous one given by other doctors. Unbelievably proud. She changed her friend’s whole life today. 🥹

Season finale of peacemaker made me so annoyed in a very mundane way. Realized that comics tv finales are just comic movie prologues at this point. To ask for anything more is a surefire route to disappointment.

I’ve had many taxi rides where men have confided in me. It’s sad to know that many people don’t feel they can share with folks in their lives. Questions come easy for me with being a journalist but at a more basic level, it comes from wanting to know people as something beyond their job.

They come back to me 5 minutes later saying I can pickup a copy in an hour. I only learned health advocacy in the last 2 years thanks to my partner who is chronically ill and fought to diagnosis. These institutions just collaborate with one another with no care for the people they supposedly serve.

Went for a blood test as a requirement to enroll in health insurance. Was told I wouldn’t receive a copy of the results unless the insurance agent okayed it, so I offered to pay.

I wrote 3/4’s of my dissertation in two months versus the two years the first quarter took. Had learned the university was going to start charging me for campus resources I wasn’t using anymore and refused to give them a cent.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
You people couldn't hang with real slackers.
