More cultural influencers who happily « brand » themselves as car-less #bike riders for local transportation in their #cities *and* journalists like @emilynussbaum.bsky.social @newyorker.com who include that point = #ClimateInfluence | See yourself riding more for short trips!

Mamdani: "I just want to speak directly to the president. I will not be a mayor like Mayor Adams who will call you to stay out of jail. I won't be a disgraced governor like Andrew Cuomo who will call you to ask how to win this election. I can do those things on my own."

Think about this - Average size of a golf course is 200 acres. Can't be used late fall, winter, or early spring. TRUTH.

Ppl complain that bikes can't be used every season so why have bike lanes. FALSE. Bike lanes can be used EVERY season.

Why do we waste so much space on golf courses?
andrealearned.bsky.social
I occasionally golf on a nearby public golf course and I would happily see it go the way of affordable housing. It's our ridiculous culture that we need to COUNTER more loudly. We get used to the landspace for golf and the road space for cars - but we can change. Show the joy in the alternatives

Fantastic piece that so resonates with me/my music tastes. I see massive potential for #ClimateInfluence in the idea of #JoyAsAnActOfResistance (an Idles Band album title that I took to heart and got a tattoo of). Collectively countering our consumerist culture is a super power x infinity

Fantastic @therevelator.org piece by Grace Dougan about #punk and IMPACT. #MusicMatters #JoyAsAnActOfResistance

"It’s about showing up, using what you have, and trusting that a better world begins at the street level. ...

Punk doesn’t promise perfection. But it offers something else: persistence."

The attack on Portland was supposed to make the place look like a lawless hellhole. Instead, the authorities have succeeded in making it look like the most fun city in the world.
andrealearned.bsky.social
Playing with this: the term "leaders" is fraught (can we say we are one? how is it defined? etc).

What if we instead see ourselves as being "initiators" ?... I feel like it would be more compelling to be one, and that you could say it out loud without cringing.

I *initiate* #ClimateInfluence

THIS!

« Maron is so spectacularly good at commanding an audience on a mic, and so completely fearless in baring his every insecurity, and it is especially because that openness makes whoever is opposite of him so comfortable baring their own in turn. »

Something about the #Portland approach is really triggering joy for me. This is #democracy #HopePunk

I look forward to more frog and critter costumes in cities across the country on the 18th. #JoyAsAnActOfResistance
