Ah sorry, only briefly alluded to it (bsky.app/profile/amyt...). It's the OM1 II + 300mm & 1.4x teleconverter. Been thinking about something like that for ages & finally got round to it!

Thanks Steve! Know what you mean about 'bird in habitat' shots - I like those too 🙂

Enjoying getting to grips with the camera - love the fact that it/I can (sometimes!) get photos like this! Could've done with that last autumn 😅 #BirdingGear
Stonechat in flight with its wings open and tail fanned. It has a dark tail and dark wings with white fringes, reddish brown upper parts and a reddish brown rump and upper tail coverts with black markings. Its face is brown with a bit of a white ish supersilium

Black- and Red- throated Divers off Hill Head this evening! The Black-throated still favouring the area towards Salterns, and the other was towards Calshot.

Lots of Chiffs on the reserve and lovely to have another late opening til sunset 🙂 #LowCarbonBirding #PWC2025
Black-throated Diver. Its position means the white patch on the flank isn't visible. It has black upper parts and white underparts and white cheeks/face. Half of its neck is black. The sea is fairly smooth but not flat calm Red-throated Diver on the sea. It is dark grey with a mostly white neck. Its bill is held slightly upwards

Best at Titchfield Haven this morning was a male Merlin hunting over the meadow and this Black-throated Diver offshore! @birdguides.bsky.social #PWC2025 #LowCarbonBirding
Back of camera photo showing a Black-throated Diver. It has black upper parts and head and white underparts including a larger white patch at the back

Our Billy found Bartramia pomiformis - a rare and declining bryophyte in Hampshire while surveying a sunken lane in the South Downs near Liss! #HantsPlants @bsbibotany.bsky.social
Sunken lane in Hampshire, UK. The road is narrow - perhaps single track - with tall steep verges that are covered in vegetation and trees. On the edge of the road is a clipboard with white paper and a dark coloured rucksack. The trees and shrubs are fully leaved so it is shaded Bartramia pomiformis, a bryophyte, on sandy soil with exposed soil around ti. It is green and looks a bit like a mini conifer.

Still some Common Fleabane in flower at Titchfield Haven. Impressed the lens can focus close (ish) and far away! #WildflowerHour
Common Fleabane. It is a yellow flower from the Daisy family and the photo shows the details including hairs on the stem! Only two flowers are still in flower the background is blurred green

Young Hobby hunting over the meadow at Titchfield Haven this afternoon #PWC2025 #LowCarbonBirding
Hobby in a blue sky. It is a young bird so lacks the red 'trousers' adults have. It is a small to medium sized falcon with long black stripes on under parts and black moustachial stripe on face.

Doubt it as a biological record needs the observer's name. I guess someone could in theory use a different name (& email) but that would confuse locals. You have a point though as these databases do need to be secure because of the information held.

Interesting, thanks. Sounds good!

Welcome to the Hampshire Nature (UK) feed collating wildlife and plant sightings in Hampshire: bsky.app/profile/did:...
Welcome to the Hampshire Nature feed which is for natural history sightings and events/news (bioblitz, talks, walks etc), in Hampshire. The feed picks up tags like #HantsBirds, #HantsPlants, #HantsMoths, and #TeamMoth will work for Hampshire moth-ers. Some key locations should be picked up too, and extra locations or tags can be added. Please let us know if you've got suggestions to improve it 😊
Other feeds which might be of interest:
•	#HantsBirds
•	Moth feeds - #TeamMoth & #MigrantMothsuk
•	UK Wildlife photos
•	Birding UK/IRE (#HantsBirds works as do #ukbirding and other regional tags)

Apologies for the confusion, you'll need to re-pin it if you still find it useful as I've transferred it over to HBIC. New link is here:

1/2 Nine months pregnant feels like an odd time to start promoting something, but the #Cicerone walking guidebook @writesofways.bsky.social and I wrote for the #SmallIsles has just been published. This little book took a long time to put together and I'm really proud of it.

Testing out the camera on patch, I was pleased the distant island gulls like (Crows there today) was within reach, and the distant Eider 🙂 What is presumably the same Goosander continues its residence at Titchfield Haven - hopefully a mate will join it? #PWC2025
Distant shingle island with a line of crows. Behind it is the Isle of Wight. It is overcast but the sea is flat Eider on the sea. The females are dark brown and the males are mostly white with black cap, tails and wings Goosander in eclipse plumage, I think. It has a dark brownish head and is mostly grey but with large white wing patch. Sat on water

Good idea - The bird mode is cool! Haven't tried pro capture yet.

OM1 mark II. It was seeing posts on here about the lighter weight set ups & mention of good second hand gear that got me thinking it was time to switch 🙂
amythebirder.bsky.social
Do you think this might work with a rucksack? The strap doesn't look too thick. Noticed their thing for the shoulder strap on a rucksack too which might work well

Really impressed with what it can do!

Whinchat with Stonechats on the meadow at Titchfield Haven, and Great White Egret still on the Frying Pan. Good to have some Brent Geese back with a small group offshore. #HantsBirds #LowCarbonBirding
Cropped photo of a Whinchat on a branch. There is a fence line behind it with a fence post and barbed wire visible. The Whinchat has an orangey red breast and white supercilium. Original photo of the Whinchat. It is much more distant. There is a reedbed and part of the River Meon behind, and grass. Great White Egret - large white egret with yellow bill - on the Frying Pa with a black-headed Gull (small with pale grey upper parts, white head and underparts, black primaries) and a Grey Heron standing tall nearby. There is a reedbed behind and a short grassy meadow. Brent Geese in flight with the Isle of Wight behind (treed part of the island) and blurred green underneath. This is the path with some very short vegetation at Hill Head. The sea is not visible but a red buoy can be seen! The geese are black ish grey with white tails. Their head and necks are black.

See what you mean - hand held pics with lens are way better if a little distant!
