I think I don’t dislike endnotes as much as many others. Just heard someone on a podcast mention them negatively. I don’t love them, but also I’m like “whatever, I’ll get another bookmark.”

Thanks! I only did a cursory search before I asked, so I’ll look more when I’m on a computer later.

Today I'm doing a talk about Women and the (early) Gothic and it might be time for a list!

So here are ten early women writers of the Gothic to give an idea of the range of things that women were creating in the period!

Oh, I’ve not heard of Valerius- do you know where I might find it?

Idk what they use to pre-caption gifs, but this one is pretty bad.
Screenshot of Bluesky’s alt text screen showing their suggested text for a gif. The gif shows Teddy from Arsenic & Old Lace charging up the staircase while pretending to draw a sword.

The suggested alt text reads: a man in a suit is walking down a set of stairs holding a gun.

Excited to do it. Not sure why signing up kept sliding down my to-do list.

Been catching up on podcasts over fall break. Lots of good stuff out there. I’m definitely a fan of the 20-40 minute length. Also, interesting to see that some styles of delivery are okay for a one off episode, but multiple episodes in a row can be off-putting for me.

Here I am. Once again. I'm out of archaeologists.

We matched 576 groups w/archaeologists, leaving 13 groups unmatched. This brings me pain! We've never run out of scientists like this before. 598 requests for one category is A LOT. But still.

Archaeologists 🥺

📢 New SCS Blog Post

Amy Norgard and Joshua Nudell -- in the first part of a two-part series -- explore the deep roots of our thinking about the nature of human relationships with artifical companions, stretching from Hollywood to Ovid and back again.

Great reflections on classical reception here!

Pac Man kind of brought video games into the mainstream. Sort of the Mario of its day.

It was the first one that was a big deal in general.

Idk how but the bookstore emails we get seem to be wrong every semester since they’ve gone to an anonymous sender/system(?). Got an email earlier this week saying orders are due by 10/31. Today I have an email saying orders are due today, but the header says 10/31 🤷‍♂️
