Oasis have an album and a half of great songs but it is always interesting how the Zeitgeist works isn't it, especially when mixed with nostalgia. From hearing about the gigs, it's very much a shared reliving of being 15, not so much about the music. Which is fine.

Right I am tired of this. Oasis fucking sucks ok? I have been subject to what I can only describe as a fifteen-year long propaganda campaign, started by my high school crush, to make me believe otherwise. I have pretended for long enough. His voice is unpleasant to hear and the lyrics are terrible

I don't think it's just me being old that this sounds awful and everyone involved sounds terrible but this quote is quite funny

Also without knowing this was talking about America it would be very confusing. But if you try to explain why to an American they would stare at you blankly because they don't understand that the parties are named after actual real words

It is insane that it's always been that schools have to have a fundraising fete where they raise a grand so they can buy some new computers. It's nuts that budgets are so tight that these relatively cheap things are needed.

My school would still do handouts on one of those Banda machines in the mid 90s. Teacher had traced over a text book page.

Even today I hear teachers are expected to bring their own pens.

This and they related thread about reading books to your kids reminds me my main issue of the animated Julia Donaldson adaptations. They're poems with a clear rhyming meter but the separate actors aren't reading them like that; presumably cos they're recorded separately

I can tell the difference in quality of the book based on whether I can remember what voice I did when the character pops up 2 chapters later. If I can't remember who the person is let alone what voice I did the book is utter shit (Percy Jackson)
