I didn't have an age in mind - my children were 9 and 7 when I wrote it though. It seems equally enjoyable by children as by adults though. I think I was more honest about death, yes.

as an aside reading aloud to smart & funny kids is like taking a little craft class. you can physically feel their attention drift and engage, what jokes hit, what pulls them along like a string through the story. those babies will sit through PAGES of botany just to find out if kehaar came back
