Yes! Gf béchamel and gf mornay are both pretty straightforward—not too difficult to swap out the flour. I make mornay quite often for mac & cheese.

I have no desire to eat eggs Benedict but I wonder if I need to, one time, with as open a mind as possible, to see why everyone is so excited about having egg sauce on their eggs

I use massage balls and a foam roller to activate my nerve root before I jog. And then I do this like towel stretch after I run for spinal decompression. This seems like a lot of foofaraw for 4 kilometres

My comfortable shorts + t-shirt jogging weather is apparently 10°C (50°F).

What if I made a caramel pumpkin ice cream & then used it for an affogato

(It’s probably ear and sinus stuff. *Or* I have a really really bad migraine coming. Only time will tell! For now I am going for a swim in a cold lake, which is uh probably somewhat counterindicated.)

Woke up dizzy today & unhelpfully my two natural warring responses to that are 1) “just ignore it and see if it goes away” and 2) “you’re dying! you are dying”

My migraine medication is in the trunk, which is not a strategic place to have left it

I wish I wasn‘t felled by perfume, but I am felled by perfume, and someone just got on this islandlink bus absolutely bathed in vanilla bath spray

Kinship agreements are commonly used to keep Indigenous kids out of the child welfare system and with family members.

But Julia's documentation was not recognized by a #DTES housing provider, contrary to BC Housing's own guidelines. thetyee.ca/News/2025/10...

“Righting this historical wrong is inconvenient for me and I am feeling some anxiety I will express as anger.” okay buddy, you process that alone or with a friend & come back when you’re ready for some self-reflexive honesty

I am so tired of people calling things divisive when what they mean is that they were more comfortable when other people were just being silently oppressed and they didn’t have to hear about it or change anything

am unfortunately familiar with that one!

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

Definitely crisp time! Galas definitely do stay firmer. (You could try a mix?)

the future of apples is leaving them as-is! honestly i can't believe i didn't give up sooner
akkabah.bsky.social
Interesting! Could be down to apple type, oven temp, cooking them too long, or adding ingredients that macerate them (like sugar) pre-cooking. You could experiment with adjusting these elements? We grow something like galas, so honestly I have the opposite problem & add macerating elements.

(If you have texture stuff it's worth trialling before committing but if not—less time, more fibre.)

Also: I tested out skin-on apple crisp this weekend & it's absolutely fine! No need to peel apples for crisp.
