Its the same problem a lot of people have with Ultraman to give another example, I used to have that issue where a lot of the designs blended together for me until I became a huge fan of the show enough that I could differentiate. A lot of people can't get into Ultra for similar reasons.

I think the main reason for the disconnect is likely the design blending together for your average person not obsessed with CN Gatcha due to lack of variety in aesthetics and sensibilites which is usually fulfilled by differences Skin tones, scars, body types etc

Hoyo specifically has that issue.

My feelings towards Death Note changed so much over the past decade that, it is unrecognizable because it kind of refuses to tackle anything of substance that would question the ethics of people reading it aside from showcasing why authoritarianism is shit and death penalty as morally unjust.

I want to make it perfectly clear I've got nothing against TRON: ARES. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

A lot of Tokusatsu fans are extremely insecure about what they like, similar to how Anime Fans used to be about 15 years ago and mostly stopped being that way after Anime gained mainstream popularity.
