But I will say the one saving grace about this kind of thing is that anime excels at making you hate the villains SO MUCH you fucking LOVE when the deus machina happens

Doesn't make sense? Doesn't matter, as long as the bad guy fucking DIES
watching episode 726 now and this is a perfect example of the deus ex machina of anime:

Luffy suddenly debuts a ridiculous new power even though we've never seen him train for it or heard him even mention it before. This shit happens all the time.
as Yeats said, "The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity". This is the world I'm familiar with.

But anime operates on musical rules, where emotions drive power, not tactics or training. This is difficult to swallow sometimes
anime is frustrating in the way it constantly uses deus ex machinae to rescue its heroes. it's a mechanic seen mostly when heroes win simply because they are more passionate or strong-willed than their opponents.. they win because they believe in themselves more, and that's just silly
One Piece, holy FUCK how it belabors a story
reminder: the Sound of Silence is one of the creepiest fucking songs ever
Blood Music by Grreg Bear comes to mind, and of course The World's End
incidentally, just watched the first episode of Pluribus. Interesting. Not a new premise by any means, but let's see where this goes.
I'm well aware. You can never underestimate the excesses people will go to if they think they can make money from it. But that doesn't mean we should just quietly accept it.
Then just let me have it. if it makes no difference then why take me to task? Didn't bother answering.
I've said this before and here it is again, proles:

the ONLY REASON to use AI in a creative endeavor is because you don't want to pay actual artists and writers. That's the ONLY REASON TO DO IT.
AI "creativity" is the answer to a question that NO ONE EVER ASKED
Let's never forget:

AI has to be trained on the creative work of others. So it's ALREADY morally bankrupt because those creators never get paid for this training.

And you can ALWAYS TELL when AI has been used for something. It's all the fucking SAME. THAT'S NOT CREATIVITY
Have you SEEN their new commercial? It's fucking AI SLOP. YOU CAN TELL.

I even think the song running behind it all might be AI-made too. It's all just SHIT
FFFFUUUUUUCK YYYOOOOUUUUUUU COCA-COLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
reminder: the Theme from Peter Gunn by the Art of Noise is badass

My first thought was "This is not above ACTUAL immigration officers". When you possess total control over another human being, only your moral code prevents you from assault. And if you have a moral code, you're probably not in immigration.

i just saw the Doobie Brothers did a Tiny Desk concert and good for them, but holy fuck Michael McDonald sounded ROUGH
It's time Barry Bonds was in the hall of Fame. He's a household name and a huge, continuing part of baseball lore. That deserves inclusion.
So really, he's being penalized for the inability of the MLB to catch him in the first place. Had he been caught just once, he'd have been fined and then would have never done them again. And he's still have hit all those home runs.
When players today get caught using PEDs, they're fined and suspended. They don't get outright banned; that happens with a third violation.

Bonds operated in that era in which PEDs were still being investigated. If caught he would have first been fined, then given a chance to play "clean".
