Previously, Republicans complained that Biden's autopen-signed pardons should be null and void because they were made without Biden's knowledge. Now, Trump claims that he doesn't know who Changpeng Zhao is - the former Binance executive whom Trump has pardoned.
Would it be better if he really had no idea? Weren't the Republicans the ones complaining about Biden's dementia and how his autopen was used without his knowledge?
There was something there before the ACA, and that will still be there. And what is that? Much of it is highly overcomplicated bureaucracy implemented by BOTH MAJOR PARTIES for the purpose of artificially inflating healthcare costs. That is why healthcare costs so much more here than anywhere else.
"Performative cruelty" is the basis of Trumpism. He ran on promises to punish disliked groups. That is at the crux of everything he does, and the Republican Party has become a Trump cult.
They've had many years to "come up with something better". They tried to do that with the AHCA, but they themselves didn't vote for it because it was piss-poor - just a worse version of the ACA. They have literally run on the promise to "overturn Obamacare" multiple times now, and still no plan.
They have no plan. Trump said he had a plan that he would unveil in a few weeks. That was several years ago.

They do have a plan to avert accountability over the Epstein case. That plan mostly involves trying to constantly distract the public with other things.
NBC says that 52% of voters mostly blame Republicans for the shutdown while 42% mostly blame Democrats. While that is a "win" for the Democrats, the gap is not nearly what it should be for something like this.
It seems that Trump is intentionally doing increasingly controversial things specifically to take attention away from the Epstein debacle.

As for healthcare, though, Democrats are as much to blame for our outrageous costs as Republicans. Both parties accept big bucks from insurance, pharma, etc.
We need universal coverage. But in doing that, we need to address the outrageous costs. And we have outrageous costs because, for a long time now, both major parties have been doing the will of donors who benefit from those outrageous costs. There must be an end to this corruption.
Obviously, the Republicans have done nothing to improve healthcare costs or availability. But Democrats are not much better. They maintain a system of outrageous costs to benefit their donors (insurance, pharma, etc.); they just want to spread the burden of those costs around more evenly.
Democrats are not fighting to lower healthcare costs. Democrats are fighting to spread the burden of our outrageous healthcare costs around more evenly. That is different. Like the Republicans, they like high costs, because their donors like high costs. It is just a matter of who pays.
Trump claimed that he would release his big, beautiful plan on healthcare in a few weeks. That was several years ago already. The Republicans tried with the AHCA, but even they didn't support it because it was just a worse version of the ACA. But anyway, both parties gave us high healthcare costs.
This is largely a reaction to the rhetoric that Democrats have been throwing around for many years. When so many are accustomed to Democrats calling everyone they dislike a "Nazi" or "fascist", those words lose all meaning. So when an actual Nazi rises to prominence, people are inured to it.
How can there be "none of the above"?! It has to be one of those options! What other options are there?
IF THERE WERE OPTIONS OTHER THAN STATEHOOD, THEN THERE WAS AN ABILITY TO VOTE NO TO STATEHOOD.
This was bound to happen at some point. Nazis and white nationalists deified Trump, gravitated to him, and were emboldened by him. The Republican Party coyly courted their votes and looked the other way as they literally waved their flags and chanted their Nazi slogans. And now, they want to lead.
I hate to be that guy, but @repilhan.bsky.social is the Democrat equivalent of Nick Fuentes. I would be hard-pressed to determine which of them hates Jews more. #sorrynotsorry
2016 Republicans: "You can't just call us Nazis because you dislike us!"

2025 Republicans: "You can't dislike someone just because he's a Nazi!"
This is, unfortunately, how Trumpism works. Everything Trump does is excusable, no matter what it is. There is always a "good reason". There is always a "defense". And of course, it is always the Democrats' fault somehow. Unfortunately, #NickFuentes is showing us what has happened to the GOP.
The people on the right getting mad at Tucker Carlson for hosting Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes on his podcast don’t seem to have gotten mad at all at Donald Trump for hosting Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes at his home for dinner. Funny that.
"...if you don't have the option to vote no..."

They had the option to vote no. Saying otherwise doesn't make it so.
So how did so many people vote no if there was no way of voting no? You are babbling nonsense.
I had some choice words for #MikeLee on that other social media platform.
You are counting the votes of people who did not vote as if they had voted. That is fundamentally dishonest and negates anything else you have to say on the matter. You do not know their reasons for not voting. You cannot read their minds. And yes, DC is a special region. That's what "DC" means.
