Coffee is the ultimate former alcoholic drink. You can pay a guy $18 to make a fancy version of it right in front of your bloodshot eyes, or you can buy one in a gas station for a buck and a half while slowly crying to "Night Moves" because you just need to feel something again

it's fine if you're young and don't know, or older and just didn't ever know because you didn't need to and people are busy!!! but don't believe this outright falsehood. "AI" boosters do this so you don't compare them to more accurate stuff, more recently, that also was a flimsy bubble. like NFTs

the early public internet was also technologically conservative -- it was plain text, then a shade above plain text, and things were added by consortium vote over a long time. the internet is code, so it was regulated and controlled by informed people who decided what code could even exist on here.

a pal shared that their boss is pushing "AI" on them at work by claiming it's the same as the early internet era. just to be clear, that's not true in literally . . . any way. the internet didn't even roll out as . . . private. it started like facebook later did, from protected institutions.

if you want a protein-y powder that's a FOOD, making it subject to FDA regulations instead of handwaving "supplement" nonregulation, try defatted peanut flour sold under brands like PB2 or PBFit. a quarter cup has 14-16 grams of protein, some fiber, & about 120-150 calories (on par with supplements)

altman is God's Own Blowhard, but you can see that he's already practicing language that he and his company will use to insist that "adults" who suffer loss or die as a result of chatGPT "relationships" will not have any liability claims.

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

someone's gender is not elective, the same way your elderly family member's hip replacement is not elective, your hysterectomy for endometriosis is not elective, your more skilled repair of a facial cut is not elective. we all deserve to have healthcare outside of traumas and cardiac arrest.

no one has to do anything in order to be trans, but the way trans medicine IS treated should disgust us all, to be honest, because all human beings NEED medical procedures that are legally called "elective" by the disgusting, mortally dangerous u.s. healthcare system.

if you're out there and YOU'RE poor and cis, and you think trans people are not like you, statistically that's because the ones who work and shop and go to school and etc. around you are closeted. they aren't bourgeois. they're hiding in plain sight and, like you, trying to make a better life.
