What's happening now. Obviously this isn't something that is accepted by everyone, and I'm not saying that, but it's upsetting that the msm is sliding in the same direction to appease the top brass and a LOT of people don't or won't know/learn better. Tldr Cycles can only be broken with awareness.
Is a lot of amends to be made and some that couldn't possibly ever be made up for, but it is *so* important to never forget the past in order to avoid repeating it. Imo one of the biggest issues with the US right now is revisionism and the allowance/praise of the past bad things in order to justify-
And it shouldn't be. We've ( speaking as a north American ) learned the lessons already. To accept that these things will continue to happen in perpetuity is an aggressively complacent take. We can, should and *will* be better than those who lived before us. Canada is far from perfect too, there -
I also think accepting that it's a cycle is a ... really bad thing. The point of "never again" when remembering the atrocities of the past is that a lot of places actually, aggressively remind themselves to never let things get that bad again. The US is an exception among first world countries -
People say "this will pass and things will get better again" but with how bad it's getting you gotta realize it might not get better until after you're dead. These things are an unfortunate cycle, sure, but if it's another 50 years before it's "normal" again... maybe you should care a bit more rn.

The Supreme Court’s conservative supermajority signaled deep skepticism over the creation of a second majority Black district in Louisiana and appeared open to at least weakening the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965 in a way that could limit minority representation in Congress.

Posting your little knife emojis with a complaint on bsky because ice ads are getting in the way of your twt memes literally does nothing! Helllooooooo!??????
Change doesn't happen when people post about being upset but accept it anyways. Why is that so hard to understand? You, yes, even *just you* can contribute to change by actually leaving shit platforms! Acquiescence is allowance! This is not a difficult concept to grasp, man!
I split a Spotify account with my sis on a yearly basis but after its up, I'm leaving and already have alternatives lined up. Like... just make the change when the platforms go against your morals. Just fuckin do it. You have the power. Your funny meme serotonin isn't worth it. Just leave!!!
Saw someone post they're upset they're getting ice ads on twt... I'm just like...ok...but why are you still there? And are you upset because the ads are there and you're continuing to stay? Don't contribute to twt and it won't be worth buying ice ads. Why is it so hard for people to understand?
Water is super choppy and wind is loud..supposed to be a storm and suddenly I remember why I don't choose cruises for vacations ( scary )
Are the concerns of surveillance use and propaganda ( even if it won't impact you ) negligible enough to continue providing usage numbers to the app even with those things happening? Not trying to sound demeaning - genuinely curious what tiktok users personal lines are.
Lrt

If you're a tiktok user, do you plan to leave when the trump admin takes it over? Or do you think you're above being influenced by propaganda and going to remain because it's silly brain serotonin sometimes? Or are you going to tolerate it to "see how it goes" before leaving?

do those of y'all tiktok junkies have a plan to get off that app before the government takes it over?

social media is an addiction and I know there are some of you who cannot stop. make a plan to quit now.
Pretty sure the boat is sold out cuz we tried to upgrade to a suite prior to leaving but the bid didn't go through cuz it also sold..but we're also too settled and too tired to move lol I'm.just baffled as to how/why the ship was designed so poorly for an entire floor of guests 🥲
( we haven't been on a carnival cruise in a long time and havent/aren't going to for a long time. We picked msc cuz it's not American and flew into a port not in the states... but man...pls fix the screeching chairs. My migraine....🥲 )
I'm so tired from less than 5 hours sleep...it's so bad...they were screeching around til 1:45am last night and started right at 6am for breakfast..😭 i think carnival is carpeted so this isn't an issue there but hot damn it is a severe design flaw. An entire floor of people unable to sleep...insane.
I wonder if @msccruisesofficial.bsky.social know about those little felt circles you can put on the bottom of chairs...I would like to tell them about it as someone whose room is directly below the dining room filled with wooden chairs on a wooden floor that are constantly screeching from 6am-1am.
2 little monkeys (?) gave us a departure song... Osaka is lovely. 🥹
Osaka Eorzea cafe was sooooo much better than akihabaras. It was SO CUTE. I had the sabotender churros, emet drink ( fine) and zenos drink ( tastes like zenos armpit sweat ) and a lot of orange juice cuz our cruise doesn't have free juice and it's the best value per coaster. 🤣
We were in osaka last night and today and the transit was way less crowded but way more confusing than tokyo to me but we made it to dotonburi and eorzea cafe last night and today went to Nara, hung out with the deer, went to Osaka Castle ( just the outside ) and did the Tempozan ferris wheel. 😵‍💫
I can't even keep up with posting everything we've done and seen. It continues to be a massive whirlwind but we are feeling extremely accomplished. There really is just....so much....to see and do in Japan, it's impossible to leave without fomo, I think. But we're definitely giving it our all!
The journey from Port to Nara is...a long one omg. Google maps also failing us for train instructions...the kind of transit time and distance thats making me nervous lol
You could tell me this was estinien and I'd believe you.
Imo all the more reason for people with privilege to take a stand. Those pay to pay and uninsured people deserve better.
And i truly hope that those instances can inspire an even stronger uprising to do good rather than do nothing. Silence is the compliance they want and it only aids and abets their agenda. I do hope and believe change can happen as long as movements remain active. 👏
