My poem in the new Poet Lore arrived!

Thanks @jasonbcrawford.bsky.social & @eaholla.bsky.social for curating the gorgeous folio + issue!
Poet Lore Volume 119 1/2

The title text is framed in a circle with vibrant painted colors ADRIAN DALLAS FRANDLE
HOMO-MITHRAICS
(pain(t] on plaster; unknown Roman artist
c. 3rd C. A.D.)
Consumed by each other's lack Of uneasy light, what if we kissed Under the tauroctony? You be Sol And I'll be Mithras — we will be Each other's Zodiac bloodletting.
Let the ravens shovel sullen stars
In our crescent cracked mouths, And we'll share in the scorpion's stingclean feast. Unmake me
Like the hollow bull of twilight.
Hallowed earth, we crush in the tussle Of our sky-struggle. Night into day, Let loose the sacred world, lost in our godliness. Brilliant daylight,
Dazzles that first step outside The cave of denial. Wingless, We fall together, up, entangled.
Our horns become sticky With sky, having gored out
Our hearts with sun-sharpened eyes.

Grayscale geometric design with glyphs that almost look like words. The "words" "kinship" and "adjoining" can be made out, but not many others.

It broke my heart to write this poem, and I would give it back if I could reverse my brother's death or my mom's diagnosis. But it doesn't work like that. So I'm trying to open my hands to the joy of having a poem in @thenation.com. Thank you, Kaveh Akbar, et al.

I always look forward to the 15th of the month bc: NEW SPLIT LIP ISSUE! This one is truly phenomenal. Every single piece will resonate for a long time. I especially want to draw your eyes to the poignant concrete poem by Mingyu Brian Chan. We accepted it when the poet was in high school!

Sometimes I say "the poem speaks for itself" and what I really mean is like one of those possessed puppets in a horror film.

I'm excited for this! Also, I'll need someone to track down this jacket for me before Monday. I don't care if it's from a video game, I need it.
