Please remember that the disgust people have over Christopher Columbus is not based on some modern, 21st century “woke” ideology, but rather on contemporaneous accounts of atrocities that make many modern genocides appear quaint in comparison.

Below, are the accounts of Bartlomé de las Casas.
But too many of the slaves died in captivity. And so Columbus, desperate to pay back dividends to those who had in-vested, had to make good his promise to fill the ships with gold. In the province of Cicao on Haiti, where he and his men imagined huge gold fields to exist, they ordered all persons fourteen years or older to collect a certain quantity of gold every three months. When they brought it, they were given copper tokens to hang around their necks. Indians found without a copper token had their hands cut off and bled to death.
The Indians had been given an impossible task. The only gold around was bits of dust garnered from the streams. So they fled, were hunted down with dogs, and were killed. After each six or eight months' work in the mines, which was the time required of each crew to dig enough gold for melting, up to a third of the men died.
While the men were sent many miles away to the mines, the wives remained to work the soil, forced into the excruciating job of digging and making thousands of hills for cassava plants.
Thus husbands and wives were together only once every eight or ten months and when they met they were so exhausted and depressed on both sides... they ceased to pro-create. As for the newly born, they died early because their mothers, overworked and fam-ished, had no milk to nurse them, and for this reason, while I was in Cuba, 7000 children died in three months. Some mothers even drowned their babies from sheer desper-ation.... In this way, husbands died in the mines, wives died at work, and children died from lack of milk ... and in a short time this land which was so great, so powerful and fer-tile... was depopulated... My eyes have seen these acts so foreign to human nature, and now I tremble as I write....

Is this, and this is not snark, a case where community drone training would be useful ? I got a drone on TEMU for under 50 (US) that takes decent video and can fit in my backpack. Could people just stand a half block away from ICE activity and record it from above with a drone?

This morning I was filming ICE abducting sometime in Petworth. One of the agents told me "the last US citizen that did this he put in cuffs all the way to the courtroom".

I’m pretty sure part of the Christian Nationalist narrative about Trump is that he is God’s chosen instrument because he is imperfect and whenever he goes on a rant about how he’s not going to heaven, I think about how this sounds to them, his target audience, not me, not his target audience

NO, this is not true. Even working class people will pay $300 or more for a pair of work boots IF the buyer knows the boots will last. This is how Solovair (made in the UK in the same factory from back in the day) made a comback. youtu.be/lFQhJOohVt0?...

Hey #BookSky #SciFi fans, read this 🧵. Remember when @williamgibson.bsky.social wrote an entire book where the plot was about American clothing manufacturing?

Americans WILL pay $180 for a button down collared shirt IF the shirt is made to last as long as a pair of 60's made Birkenstock sandals.
William Gibson's novel "Zero History" is his main work focused on military-style fashion, exploring military contractors and designers who fetishize military attire. While not a non-fiction book on military uniforms, it delves into the corporate and fashion industry's connection to military-inspired styles.

Then you haven't listened to Charlie Kirk on his own PODCAST. You've only listened to his speaking engagements at churches and schools.

And if the shirt is made to last 15 years being washed once per week - $180 is a fair price. But they are charging $180 for shirts that don't last 5 years with regular washing. No people don't want to pay for that.

UR not wrong. But OP made it seem as if US consumers R resistant to paying for the cost of quality. They are NOT. They just can't afford quality AND they are resistant to paying high prices for LOW quality. But working class people who can save for 1 pair of high quality durable work boots buy them.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.
