The question that may decide Friday's Louisville-Miami game is: Can the Cardinals stop Hurricanes stars Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor, along with the rest of the UM defense?

The Cardinals' O-Line has struggled, and UM offers a huge test.

Can Louisville stop stars Bain, Mesidor and the No. 2 Hurricanes’ defense?
The Hurricanes’ defensive front has been the team’s biggest strength early in the year. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, blocking defenders has been their biggest weakness.

Corey Hetherman on the starting LBs:

"I think we're getting better as a unit, communicating. "I think we're getting better as a unit, working together. ... I think you can see them getting more comfortable."

A note on Louisville: Pro Football Focus ranks their pass-blocking 105th nationally and their run-blocking 118th.

Shannon Dawson has some praise for WR Jojo Trader: "He's had a very good week last week. We've had some very good talks. I love the kid. ... I look forward to him finishing this week and making some plays."

Shannon Dawson is up now. On the Louisville defense:

"Up front, they're really active, really good. The two linebackers have played a lot of snaps. They change up their coverage well."

Mario Cristobal on receiver depth, considering CJ Daniels and Malachi Toney have done so much early in the year.

"We're not concerned about that. ... As long as they bust their butts and do the right things and play really, really hard ... the ball will find them."

Mario Cristobal at the lectern for his Louisville week presser.

"A lot of talent, a lot of NFL talent, all over the roster."

The people in charge of college football spent years claiming any amount of paying players would allow the biggest programs in the sport to dominate harder than ever, and then it became legal to pay players and we instantly got unprecedented parity. I’ll never forget it!
