working on bringing out the vibe on Patibito's new EP was a real joy! Lofi is challenging, somehow sculptural, to embrace the grit, the high casio tones, and have it shine! After digital, we ran it thru tascam 122 tape, which packaged it perfectly. Here's a medley of some of the EPs highlights!

the only critique artistically that stands out, is the chat conversation as film credit roll (guessing chatgpt came up with that idea), though a nice idea, feels like it's the end of the film, not the beginning of something new. gives a sleepy waiting until the end of the credits in the cinema vibes

artistically the adverts are actually beautiful and hail back to an older era of commercials. obv they're exploiting the lived nostalgia of older generations and the longing for better now in the youth. now, imagine if they'd adopted the 'it'll do' attitude their technology nurtures in its users.

the fact OpenAI shot 35 mm film, used human crafted music for their chatgpt ad kind of shows they too don't believe in slop. So, all what they're selling with this ad campaign is an advanced internet search summarizer, and schedule organizer. It assists lives, doesn't threaten jobs, definitely not.

AI upscaled youtube shorts has to be the worst aesthetic ever. Especially warbley vhs interviews with bands in the 90s look really cursed. Just show it how it was. Unnecessary application of 'AI' is seriously so grating by now.

when you start again from 0 listeners on spotify and don't promote it, saying 'monthly listeners' is a little misleading, like it just means here's how many accounts the algorithm has recommended it to. I wonder what metadata that's based on besides just other accounts with fuck all listeners. lol

its promo didn't mention blockchain at all or that it mints the music. it seemed kind of misleading. if I hadn't read the terms I'd still think it was just selling wavs, not nfts. I found it pretty confusing tbh. it's billed as good thing for independents but I can't see how. seems like a lottery.
