How do you tend to describe the difference between grief and mourning? What seems to resonate the most in your explanation?

Re: “moving on” after a loved one dies.

We tend to translate it as moving on from the person we love. But let me offer a reframe.

Perhaps it can be moving on from the PAIN of their passing; giving yourself permission to move THROUGH your feelings.

You carry your loved one with you.

💬 Did you know our Responsive Emergency Assessment and Community Team (REACT) service aims to help keep patients with a terminal diagnosis out of hospital?

The scheme was set up after data showed that end-of-life patients spent an average of a month in hospital in the last year of their life. 💔

Standing on the bare ground, – my head bathed by the blithe air, and uplifted into infinite space, – all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eye-ball; I am nothing; I see all; the currents of the Universal Being circulate through me; I am part or particle of God.

In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can befall me in life, – no disgrace, no calamity, (leaving me my eyes,) which nature cannot repair.
Stephen is the philosopher for our time. It took me forever to get through Die Wise. Every page broke me into a million shards.

Sometimes life is just incredibly tragic.

You don't need an inspirational quote.

You just need to feel.
Be angry.
Grieve.
Cry.

You can find the deeper meaning and growth opportunity later.

First, be human.

Grief belongs in our life. We should be trying to learn it as a skill and not, as is so often the case, trying to get through it or over it.
