People disagreeing with your thoughts on what shape this movement should take is not a denunciation of all protest, FFS, and I sincerely wish people would consider their own choice of words in this regard before throwing stones.
Has anyone actually bothered to ask the people who've actually been on the streets for months now, hounding ICE and blockading detention centres?

Do people seriously believe that none of them would identify as leftists of one kind or another? That they'd all embrace your personal theory-of-change?
Folks know that Talia isn't taken terribly seriously on the left, right?

Do people really think the average leftist is scandalized by people taking to the streets?

I know people really *want* this to be a thing, but TBH I'm not seeing a whole lot of evidence that is.

NEW: Who is behind three shadowy ships accused of helping Russia transport stolen grain from occupied territory in Ukraine?

With our Syrian partner SIRAJ, we have uncovered some clues: www.occrp.org/en/investiga...

If you think you're the awesome-est person ever to protest & have the best ideas ever, then lead by example & good luck with that.

But--others also have the authority of self & can dissent how they choose without your critique.
"These are things that some people believe are important litmus tests..."

That's certainly one way to talk about what, in pretty much any other context, would be referred to with terms like "crimes against humanity".
Whereas Harris told MSNBC that she believes whether or not Israel has committed genocide is a fair and honest question to ask, Cory Booker explicitly said to the "I've Had it" podcast that he thinks addressing the question of whether Netanyahu has committed crimes would undermine resolving conflict.
For those who don't keep up with UK politics, this comes on top of Russian bribery revelations about their former Welsh leader.

There's an angle on this I haven't seen elsewhere - sorry, it's from a sectarian Trot group, but according to them the Engler campaign is spearheaded by Socialist Action, whose US sister group was kicked out of the Fourth International for absolutely gross campism bolshevik.org/statements/i...

Pretty sure bro does not want those of us who've read his articles weighing in on this subject.

Some of that stuff, like the time he linked to Rovics' deranged flowchart of the "Portland Antifa conspiracy", might not look so good in light of current events...
Any criticism of Yves must take "thirteen books and 1000+ articles" into consideration.

Rachel's complaints about Yves? Not even worth mentioning here.... mostly because it would become clear she's upset about his (latest) dalliance with the far right, not outraged by his left-wing views.

In a sign of the depths of status quo ideological rigidity, Paris Marx told Rachel Gilmore “fuck Yves Engler” to which the ‘leftist’ laughed heartily, replying “I feel like he’s not a very serious candidate”. During a segment on the NDP leadership race on Gilmore’s program Thursday, Marx then added “let’s be real, he’s just chasing clout”. Apparently, the others vying to lead the NDP aren’t “chasing clout”. Neither Marx nor Gilmore said a word about my campaign’s comprehensive new policy platform, drawn up by 45 activists and researchers, titled “Capitalism Can’t Be Fixed – Onward to a Socialist Future”.

Since I launched my bid to lead the NDP Gilmore, who spent a decade working for Global, IPolitics and CTV in Ottawa, has repeatedly taken shots at me while ignoring the substance of my thirteen books and 1000+ articles.
Quintessential example of how this shit works.

He's just making a list of people who've said nasty things about him (most of which are true) and then declaring that's a conspiracy to silence *you*.

You're the real victim here, ya see...

The alternate reframing by centrists of antifascism as a sort of safe, non-active position while simultaneously pointing fingers at “bad protesters” for optics reasons while coopting the ephemera of the movement has been abysmal to watch unfold for sure.

After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

Depraved.

Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world,... I feel like I can't take it. And my heart is just going to cave in.
Remember when Tucker got in all that trouble for having the "historian" on who argued Churchill was the greatest villain in WW2?

That was Daryl Cooper.

I am sure this says something deep and profound about human psychology and society.

I am not going to pretend to be clever or insightful enough to tell you what that is.
Increasingly coming around to the realization that the singular thing with any proven ability to really move the needle on political discourse in the 21st century is somehow... frog memes?
“A second inflatable frog has now been spotted wiggling through Portland.”
Marco Rubio whispers into Donald Trump's ear.
A minor and largely symbolic quibble, I know, but can we take a moment to consider what Caesar uses to illustrate "apes together strong!" in that scene?

Is "a bundle of sticks" really the political metaphor we want to be reaching for at this moment?
Yeahhhhh....

This shit was super legally risky (not to mention morally indefensible) under the best imaginable government and the PSL could not have exposed more kids to serious risks if they led entire marches into police kettles...

...which they are also known for.
