Of course. But Orban is not alone in Hungary. This visit could inflame tensions within Hungary. And then who knows what could happen!
"Great progress was made." I guess Putin will just have to press Trump's snooze button in Budapest in order to get five more 2-week minutes.
Trump and Putin are amazingly best friends again, will meet in Budapest to settle the war. They will try to screw Ukraine I’m sure
Although there is a non-EU way to enter Hungary, albeit a complicated one: Mediterranean sea, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia. But surely an accident over Kosovo could be arranged...
I don't mind Hungary. His plane can simply be barred from flying into EU. And then if he does try, he could be shot down. End of Putin, possibly even end of war.

(cont.) If, as the Russians stop behaving like Marxists, they reject liberal democracy and begin behaving like Russians but not like Westerners, the relations between Russia and the West could again become distant and conflictual” (Huntington 1993: 44-45)(2)
I dislike Huntington's clash of civilizations thesis, but this quote from his 1993 article strikes me as particularly prophetic: "“A Western democrat could carry on an intellectual debate with a Soviet Marxist. It would be virtually impossible for him to do that with a Russian traditionalist. (1)

My god, the Giorgia Meloni deepfake is just pathetically bad.
Russian disinformation trying extra hard this week, they've unusually deepfaked the audio and video of various European leaders as part of a disinformation campaign targeting Moldovan President Maia Sandu, who has been a regular target of their past activity.
For the record, the "I'd kill someone" is a relatively common expression in Italian.
Hamas "takes out the gangs" - all hail the ICE of the Middle East.
Trump’s everlasting peace in the Middle East held for 24 hours, so now he has to defend Hamas killing people to keep his Nobel Prize hopes alive.

⚡️ Update: Syria's al-Sharaa meets Putin during his first Russia visit.

During their meeting, Putin lauded the "friendly" relationship between Syria and Russia, while al-Sharaa said Damascus would respect all previously concluded agreements, TASS reported.

It something that just happens. Like an earthquake.
I know it has, but the scale in this case seems to be larger, and the intention more explicit.
I have to admit it really is a bad picture, though.
Don't get me wrong. This is not surprising at all. But it is a big deal anyway.
I discovered a relatively old article (2017) by an (apparently) leading scholar (citations) that is one of the worst pieces of garbage I have ever seen, tendentious, disinforming and propagandistic to the extreme. Shame on the (then) editor of Journalism Studies. www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1...

Of course not for him. There is nothing unexpected in this news, but we should be talking about it nevertheless.
This is a pretty big deal, actually.

And yet he really likes being in the EU and does not want to see Ukraine in it at any cost. What a vile character.
Well said.
This "All options are on the table" rhetoric is usually used against places like Iran and North Korea, not against the American people!

The year before that I attended a seminar with her. Where she inter alia predicted that she was going to be murdered at some point.
Nineteen years ago, on October 7, 2006, Anna Politkovskaya was assassinated by Putin's hitmen.
She was the first to tell the truth about Russia's mass crimes in Chechnya, which foreshadowed those in Syria, Ukraine, Africa and elsewhere. They could have been prevented.
Almost no one listened to her.
