2,864.7 km round trip driven, almost 60 km walked, 6 ferry voyages, many ancient stones, rocky hills, beaches, and uncounted drams of whisky. That was the Northern Scotland 2025 adventure!

Acqua di San Giovanni, 2025 Edition. Traditionally, it’s made on St. John’s Eve with whatever can be found in the fields or your garden. The bowl will spend the night outside to catch the dew, and the water will smell wonderful come tomorrow morning! #acquadisangiovanni

This week my guest was @luiciolfi.bsky.social Professor of Human Computer Interaction at UCC and a true music lover

We talked about her work, how UCC Library supports her research and teaching, and we had great fun exploring her music picks.

Luigina Colfi, wearing large headphones and glasses, sits at a radio studio desk in front of a microphone. She is smiling and facing the camera. A mixing console with brightly lit buttons and sliders is in the foreground. A water bottle and notes are on the desk, and a studio screen with a clock and “UCC 98.3FM” is visible in the background. A playlist graphic titled Shush! Sounds from UCC Library with the subtitle Shush 296 – Luigina Ciolfi Takeover. It lists 13 songs:
	•	Broken Man – St. Vincent
	•	Ghosts – Seamus Fogarty
	•	Corsicana Lemonade – White Denim
	•	Oh No – Biig Piig
	•	A Lucid Dream – Fontaines D.C.
	•	Beware of Darkness – George Harrison
	•	Beauty Lies in the Eye – Sonic Youth
	•	Palaces of Montezuma – Grinderman
	•	I Inside the Old Year Dying – PJ Harvey
	•	The Stars are Underground – The Frames
	•	My One and Only Love – John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman
	•	This is a Conversation – Windings

There are days in life that shake you.

I’m shattered 💔 to share that I just found out that the US Government terminated my 2024 NIH Director’s Early Independence Award (~$2 million), threatening my long-promised assistant professor job at Columbia University

....ooooh, it's so depressing to see your research ideas that nobody wanted to fund (no matter how many times you tried and how many positive reviews you got) become actual "things" in the world out there, being covered by the media, etc....
