The transition to a #WellbeingEconomy can foster a socially just, economically competitive and environmentally sustainable society despite the green backlash that largely shapes the current EU policy making.

“This reaffirms calls from #postgrowth scholars - from #degrowth to #wellbeingeconomy - for a deep renewal of both economic theory & practice, including by overcoming nations’ structural dependency on GDP growth… [moving to ecologically regenerative & socially distributive policy].”

My article in @aunz.theconversation.com today on the update of #DoughnutEconomics by @andrewlfanning.bsky.social and @kateraworth.bsky.social in @nature.com. It's well past time we reoriented the economy to serve people and the environment instead of profit and rent extraction. #WellbeingEconomy.
‘Doughnut economics’ shows how global growth is out of balance - and how we can fix it
A new economic update shows it’s more important than ever to think carefully about what progress means.

My recent article explores how the name of a movement can shape its success. We reframed 'degrowth' as 'Directed Prosperity'.
It got me thinking: What other important ideas or movements do you believe are held back by a name that needs a rebrand? 👇

So, the article outlines a journey to rebuild this language from the ground up.
Step 1 was to flip the definition. Instead of leading with "reduction," the new definition leads with the ultimate goal.
