I've been on a soapmaking binge for the past few weeks. Today I made plain white soap. No colour, no scent, no milk or honey. Just water, lye and oils. This is my personal favourite.

I suck at social media lol
Made a Naughty List bar with a bunch of activated charcoal. Fragrance is currant and oakmoss to give it a unisex scent.
A was very tempted to just call it Mothman and add some kinda red splash but there's always next time

It's just that stupid actual soapmaking step that stinks. Because you can't do the normal thing (Make 5 when soap is less than five) because you just can't select soap. It's bizarre.
And once I used rock nut oil because I didn't have any animal husbandry. That stunk. Never again.

Ahhh that makes sense. I was looking at a little $20 (960sq ft) air purifier, and it includes an aromatherapy wick which just confused me lol
But yeah, one of my biggest challenges with soapmaking is convincing people that when you have sensitive skin you DON'T want a strong fragrance haha

is there anybody out there who still makes things out of horn? there are plenty of folks doing soapmaking, fiber art, woodworking, blacksmithing, tanning, pottery, all that stuff, but where did all the horners go

My Almond soap looks pink, yellow & white — but I split it into six! The fragrance darkens over time, so I scent only half. Part of the swirls stay bright, others deepen with a burnt hue. Soapmaking chemistry is pure magic. 🧼

I am not sure if i remember it right cause it seems so incredible to me but.
I think i heard that fat and ash makes for a sorta soap so.
You rub your greasy dishes with ash from the fire you used to heat the food and that gets em kinda clean through instant soapmaking?
Amazing stuff.
