Same for me. I started with PhaserJS and it had nothing. Switching to Godot I have a working walkable 2DPlayer class, ready UI elements, text animations 😱 it's crazy!

Further progress! I've created scene transition functions for a lovely fade out and fade in. I'm aiming to tweak it to give that cool palette swap fade effect on 8bit consoles.

Found an awesome PhaserJS example (link in comments) and had to play with it in an @expo.dev app using a DOM component!

I swapped keyboard controls for a custom (native!) reanimated joystick to run it on my phone. In fact, all UI is native while the game is a DOM component. Looks and feels great!

Hit a tougher part of development- working out the map scene with waypoints. I have the logic pretty much in place and can toggle through destinations. Still more work to do, but it's good progress!

Important progress tonight. In the guts of the combat logic now. Added dice rolls for hit and damage. Enhanced the dice function to include crit checks too! 🎲 ⚔️ Had to force myself to stop and go to bed! 🤣

More progress tonight. Whilst building the combat scene I decided to go back and make QoL improvements to save headaches later. Text boxes are more dynamic now! I also did some graphics updates to the title!

Very cool. I used to do Flash development and made a handful of games in Flash (no longer playable for obvious reasons). I've done some stuff with phaserJS and Unity both, but never completed anything. Still have the itch to make games, but hard to muster the energy to dig in by myself these days!

I made a key change to Gor's Tale this week, swapping out the static map with waypoints to tilemap based maps you can navigate and explore, paving the way for more random interactions and story progression.
