Yeah, my wife regularly spends $300-$450 (with home goods) a week for the 2 of us.

She’s vegetarian mostly, not organic, and I just don’t have time to cook much when working… so she gets me prepared egg breakfasts and decent microwave lunches.

$18k+/yr for 2 not incl. date nights is bananas.

I'm a contractor, so I've worked at dozens of companies, mostly tech companies.

Not only are many CEOs dumb as rocks (especially at the non-tech companies), but yes, many of them do hardly anything unless you count two-hour business lunches and having hissy fits about profits.

I am trying other canned fish types because tuna makes my lunches so much easier but I don't want to get mercury poisoning, so I need other options so I don't eat tuna every single day.

So I have just enough between the crumbs left from my paycheque and ODSP, to get food for meals for the next two weeks. I would however, like to acquire some snacks, and easy lunches for work too. This isn’t urgent, but would be appreciated.

Goal: $30-$50

President Ronald Reagan and Vice President George Bush have lunch in the Oval Office. November 1, 1982.

The two held standing weekly lunches during Reagan’s eight years in the White House, a practice later adopted by their successors.

The sad thing is the people who ask the question threw a huge hissy fit and screamed tyranny when a black woman tried to bring in healthier choices for government subsidized school lunches.

Right, yeah, exactly this, works great, the kids each have a box in the pantry where Easter, Halloween, Christmas & birthday party loot goes and it gets put in school lunches a bit at a time and shared with friends when they come over and no-one guzzles so much sugar they get ill. Easy.

Was just sitting here wondering what I’m going to give Theo for dinner, and for school lunches until Wednesday… And this article pops up. Well, duh, RNZ! You don’t say! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I think it’s actually a lot worse than you’ve described it.

To save every penny, we’re in a strict no-spend. Packed lunches, meal prep, nothing goes to waste.

My lovely wife brought me lunch at work today and we sat outside in the cold on a bench eating PB&J and it was the most loved I’ve ever felt in my life.

We’ll get through this, together. 💝🥰

4/ & the Moms bought new coats & shoes & took all of it to our teachers to distribute. They began a tradition to help those kids in need. These Moms packed extra food in all of our lunches w instructions to us kids to offer it to any kiddo w not enough to eat. Teachers did so, too. I learned... 5/

They're also paramount to having a functional military. School lunches are a post WWII thing because we realized how many kids were malnourished and weren't fit to serve.

You need a well nourished population and serious science for war. This admin isn't serious about any of that.

Anyway, SNAP should be universal. Just like school lunches in NYC. Not everyone needs it to survive but everybody gets it, no means testing.

There should also be a lot fewer regulations on what you can buy with SNAP and discounts, not bans, on hot prepared foods.

SNAP, minimum wage, food deserts, shitty school lunches, pesticides and chemicals (some already illegal in makeup). We have been allowing the same decisions for a long time. I’m glad people are now noticing.

I went to the farmers market today. One of the baked goods vendors had a table of sack lunches for anyone who needed one. One of the meat and egg vendors had ground beef on sale after being reminded he couldn't give extra discounts to SNAP customers. It was good to see but still 💔
