In recent polling carried out by the @johnsmithcentre.com, two-thirds of young people said that school hasn’t prepared them to vote. Eddie Barnes, Director of the John Smith Centre, echoes ACT's call to guarantee every pupil access to #CitizenshipEducation:

There's also a lot of work to be done to revitalise + extend #citizenshipeducation in schools in England. As ‪@acitizenshipt.bsky.social‬ can tell you, #cited can work but schools provision has been weakened + marginalised over past 15 years.

Great 👏🏼👏🏼 #CitizenshipEducation is of utmost importance & should be a fundamental part of the curriculum, which means analysing political agendas, manifestos & policies. This means providing space for constructive but sometimes challenging opinions and conversations. Schools should be safe for this.
