world stage is pretty good. it's basically the single-player mode from vf4, which i was genuinely perplexed was missing from revo on first release.
nothing fancy or super interesting, but solid enough for a ps2-era fighter.
which vf5 isn't.

Indeed making fighting games is a very risky move but at the same time I can't believe that everyone that enjoyed 3D fighting games simply vanished. Trends come and go and there was a period where 2D fighters were the one that were struggling back in the early 00's when T5, SC2, VF4 and DOA3 ruled

RIP Tomonobu Itagaki; he made some rad games, and he was a truly fun and compelling interview subject. I'll never forget a time when he mentioned that I'd given VF4 a higher score than DOA3, and then gave me an insanely difficult pop quiz about VF minutiae (like frame counts) that I utterly bombed

Japan Render a Black Woman in 3D Challenge (impossible... except Capcom and Arc Sys do it with little problem and I hope they bring back VF4 Vanessa Lewis)
Monumental fumble in terms of turning this from 2D art to a 3D model. Like, astronomical. In no world is this the same character. You guys didn't even try.

I don't think I have ever played Dural before, or if I did it was a million years ago so that was a weird experience. The whole world stage mechanic is def aping VF4 Evo though so thats a big plus.

As someone who drove one hour to play VF2 in high school, over 90 minutes to play VF3 in college, bought VF4 Evolution for PS2 before owning a PS2...the more VF posting, the better 😀

The only NAOMI 2 games that got console ports, from what I can tell, were King of Route 66 to the PS2, Virtua Fighter 4 & VF4 Evolution to the PS2, & Virtua Striker 3 to the GameCube.
I don't believe any of them were considered poor ports.

So i'll be real, I got used to VF5 Vanessa First before seeing VF4
but i still dunno what happened there. Like... why. It's not like she's white in 5 but she's def a lot lighter for no reason, it's odd. And apparently og 5 let you give her the old skin back?
