FROM SHAMS:

Memphis Grizzlies F/C Brandon Clarke will undergo a procedure to address knee synovitis and is expected to be re-evaluated in 6 weeks, sources tell ESPN. Clarke missed tail end of the 2024-25 season with a PCL sprain, which has fully healed. He's expected to make a full recovery.

Catching up on the flurry of NBA injury news. Brandon Clarke is undergoing surgery for knee synovitis, a condition that occurs when a layer of soft tissue that acts as a cushion between spaces within the joint becomes inflamed. A synovectomy (removal) seems likely. Timeline TBD.

Weird that the Argentine national team would release a statement saying he’s leaving the squad because he’s been diagnosed with synovitis then if it was planned all along? I don’t know, it feels like he’s going to be out a couple of weeks to me but we should get training photos or press conf. news

Hey, I have both of these in addition to RA and Lupus. A surgeon isn't gonna be able to do much. They will recommend ice, rest, Tylenol/Ibuprofen, PT, or they may even give you steroids. If your synovitis is bad enough though, they can remove some of the inflamed fluid for relief. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Mary! Nothing acute, just some synovitis that keeps coming back. They’re gonna do surgery in a few weeks.

What we found:
❌ No significant association between hsCRP & MRI inflammation
❌ ROC curve: poor predictive ability (AUC ~0.58, close to coin flip)

👉 hsCRP doesn’t accurately identify knees with synovitis (inflammation on MRI)

I've been on a Naproxen tablet daily for 18 months and now had to move to two for ongoing inflammatory arthritis and synovitis whilst endlessly awaiting steroids. The struggle is real.
