Steam's vagueness about this policy annoys me, but honestly they do this for SO many things and don't enforce half of the guidelines they do have. I understand flexibility to a degree but this is people's livelihoods at stake.
Anonymous adult Steam dev asked if NSFW titles can no longer be released in Early Access, Steam rep replied evaluation is “on a case-by-case basis” during build, store review

“There is no blanket policy preventing certain games from using the Early Access model of development.”

Sadly the only thing that going to reign in Steam's storefront (and Apple and Google, for that matter) are governments.

America's going to be useless in that regard for the foreseeable future. Be nice if the EU got their act together ...

I think this article is missing something that should be said explicitly: There are thousands of BAD games released every year that are not just "undiscovered," but intentionally ignored by both gamers and Steam's algos.

www.gamesradar.com/games/over-5...
Over 5,000 games released on Steam this year didn't make enough money to recover the $100 fee to put a game on Valve's store, research estimates
And over 8,000 games are estimated to have earned under $1,000

shouldn't it be steam's job to determine what games are allowed to release where, not the developers?
you'd think steam would catch this in the manual review they do of all games they allow onto the platform, rather than pushing all responsibilty onto the devs.

Steam's not letting me release isopod. Seems to think I'm trying to upload a trailer? Anyone else had this issue?

I set the saucer
gently on the table,
its porcelain chill
a mirror of
your silence.
My heart,
poured out like
tea gone cold,
waiting for a
hand never
reaching for it.
Even the steam's
learned to vanish
before it lingers
too long where
it’s unwanted.

Steam’s rising. So are they.
Naked Guys, water up to their hips - cocks floating, cheeks flushed, glances getting bolder. They came to relax…
But something else is heating up.

"As it stands, Steam's terms of service now state that games can be removed from the store if payment processors object to their sale."

Then they should be required to give indisputable proof, not vague statements.
The Gamer was pretty much the *only* outlet willing to stick their neck out for us adult game makers. Their coverage was invaluable in getting the word out about payment processor censorship 😥

it is bizarre that steam's default behaviour is to notify your friends every time you load up a game

Okay this is life changing! I didn't know that you can set Steam Store preferences.
You can exclude certain tags! In my case, I excluded first-person and FPS since I can't play those games due to my simulation sickness. Are you going to exclude anything?

Hey folks, Steam's curator system still appears to be bugged, and I cannot add any more games to it. I've tried creating a new review but it's unresponsive, tested this in the desktop client, browser, and app. I've sent a support ticket about this a little while ago, but still have heard nothing.

There were so many amazing games for Steam’s Next Fest, but I really enjoyed Starsand Island. It has all of the elements I love like farming, building, ranching, and the art style is beautiful. I feel like I’m playing n a ghibli film. #starsandisland #nextfest

Unfortunately, this is absolutely true.

When Steam's 'year in review' feature tells me I am well above the median by playing hundreds of games in any given year, I say, 'Fair enough.'

When they then specify that the median in question is 4, I say, 'What the hell?'
the documented problem with the gaming audience is that they buy one AAA game, one live service game and a single indie game that goes viral every year. with the decimation of the press and the ballooning of game sizes the idea of a generalist gamer that tries new things is basically non-existent

There's a difference between games that have a multiplayer mode and games that are multiplayer first. I wish Steam's tags differentiated.

Steam's curator system seems bugged right now, was going to add a new rec, but the Post Review button has simply stopped working.
