Everyone knows #OpenTelemetry's attributes can be easily filtered and aggregated by any backend. But what happens when the data itself is complex? We are excited to announce support for complex data across all #OTel signals starting with OTLP 1.9.0. Learn more in our latest post.

Announcing Support for Complex Attribute Types in OTel
It’s common to use simple key-value properties as attributes in telemetry. Most telemetry backends are optimized for this pattern, making it efficient to store, index, and query data. OpenTelemetry…

This is where open standards like OpenTelemetry’s semantic conventions matter even more in the age of AI. AI loves predictability. The more consistent your telemetry is, the easier it is for models (and you!) to spot real patterns. You don’t need perfectly formatted telemetry from day one. (3/6)

Of course then you need to send code to format things as Arrow. This could be a good first target for getting into browsers though 🤔

Report Shows OpenTelemetry’s Impact on Go Performance
A new benchmark study from observability platform Coroot has shed light on the performance costs of implementing OpenTelemetry in high-throughput Go applications. The findings show that while OpenTelemetry delivers valuable trace-level insights, it introduces notable overhead, increasing CPU usage by approximately 35% and increasing network traffic and latency under load.
