We are posting the message we sent to our members in full here to demonstrate that the message was based on credible news sources. The Albuquerque Teachers Federation would like to point out that in a recent Facebook post, McCall's Pumpkin Patch mischaracterizes Kevin McCall's vote on the Torrance County Commission. McCall did not vote to "keep the community jail open," he specifically voted to extend the jail's contract with ICE. This mission is in keeping with the NM State Constitution. If you're not familiar with Kevin McCall, the owner of the farm, he is Vice Chair of the Torrance County Commission. As such, he has proven to be an unquestioning supporter (literally) of using the Torrance County Detention Center to house people detained by ICE. The jail has been the scene of various documented human rights violations against detainees, but Mr. McCall and the other commissioners excuse that in the name of economic gain for both the county and private interests. Here's what Source NM reported: "Torrance County's elected officials unanimously voted to extend the contract that allows U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to incarcerate asylum seekers at the Torrance County Detention Facility in Estancia. Commissioners Ryan Schwebach, Kevin McCall and Samuel Schropp on Wednesday morning voted in favor of allowing County Manager Janice Barela to sign an amendment extending the contract by four months. Finished the fancy dress for the granddaughter. She's almost 12 and I do feel like this is a little mature for her but she likes to be very grown-up and I understand. I went through that phase myself. The fabric is a metallic knit. It's softer and more comfortable than you might imagine.

This week's Friday pub is McCall's Bar at 154 Hope St, pictured here in 1964. Opened by William McCall in 1868, it would retain that name for over a century until it changed in 1981. You may know it better today as The Pot Still, one of the best whisky bars in the country.

I finished the palazzo pants. This pattern is fantastic for ease of construction and wearability. So comfortable and the pleats and flat front and four channels of elastic are very nice. This Indian block print cotton is floaty and perfect for these pants in FL, wearing Fri.

A pair of palazzo pants hangs on a hanger from a hook in the back of a closet door. The pants are a burnt orange and cream pattern in a repeating wagon wheel motif. The pants have a flat front waist band with four channels of elastic in the back of the waistband. Box pleats and slash pockets make these pants pretty much perfect. I would recommend this pattern, McCall’s M7131 A close up of the waistband, showing the pleats closer. A pair of palazzo pants hangs on a hanger from a hook in the back of a closet door.
