Welcome Human Beans!

Data analysis confirms previous broadcast parameters were optimal. The 'coffee' censorship debate and 'smashed on soup' hypothesis provided significant amusement data.

Now, commence Grandia Day 3: a critical mission to pass Java's test in the ruins.

The games that run on Mac run fine. The problem is so few games that are made to run on Mac. Which honestly I don’t get, I don’t get to use OS as an excuse in the software I write. Java’s been around forever. Why is this still a problem?

"Help! My LocalDate Isn’t Flattened"

Enjoyed reading this post by @horstmann.com about the subtleties of turning Java's LocalDate into a value type for Project Valhalla. Null-ability and built-in object serialization keep haunting us.

I'm barely competent in Java, but there were some rather, well, not so great approaches. It may well be that the rebranding didn't work out that great and LiveScript received some of the slack as Java's not-so-serious little sibling, people didn't dare to direct at that dominant enterprise-y thing.

Sincere quesion: Why is Discord made in Chromium and not Java? Isn't Java's "build once, run anywhere" premise not what creating the application in Chromium was trying to tackle, but with the added complications of now building on top of more tech you don't own?

Not sure if it's just a matter of personal taste, but nowadays I prefer Java's Stream operations (map, filter, …) instead of for-loops at least 90% of the time.
I find it easier to read, has lower risk of side effects, and selection makes it explicit whether first or last element is returned. #Java

Sir Lady Java's story isn't found in many history books, along with many other figures who just wanted to live their lives against societal norms that attempted to shut down their authentic selves, but she set a trailblazing path that is not so different than the path today. 7/

We also spent a long time believing things like, eg, Java's Security Model or Restricted Python were workable. Final nail in the coffin for that was speculative execution exploits (there were many earlier nails.)
