Last week's Name This Movie: The Call of the Wild, a 1923 silent B&W film based on the Jack London book by the same name. Never seen it, but I remember reading it on a Palm Pilot in 2000 when I was early for something out of town. Good book. 📽️ #NameThisMovie #WrongAnswersOnly #FilmSky

Your daily dose of art from Ms Armstrong. I first started in photography in 1988 I learned my craft with black and white for those in the know FP4 and HP5. We used to have to run two cameras one with B & W and one with colour film loaded! So we have Leeds, Brixham, Bucharest and Malaga moody stuff

If someone in a comment section tells you that expired film is unusable or not worth shooting, I can tell you from experience that this expired HP4 is some of the best B&W film I've ever shot.

What's your favorite film type?

developing film yourself isnt the worst and it definitely saves money, i dont do much c-41 because it goes bad pretty fast once you mix it so its most cost effective to develop like 8 rolls over a course of a week so i have to save them up

as opposed to b/w film where d-76 will last 6 months

No 1940s B&W action film is complete without a casual demonstration of bonkers last-minute death-defying utterly irresponsible train boarding

30 years ago, I was doing an MA in Screenwriting, and one of my fellow students swore up and down that Film Noir came from the fact that "They're in b&w". I tried everything:
"Why isn't it Film Noir et Blanc?"
"So Laurel & Hardy are Film Noir?"

I keep saying I'm gonna try shooting B&W film, but never actually do it. Dx

Last year, I purchased two Polaroid cameras. I cannot begin to tell how much it's helped me keep productive with my photography. Especially the Polaroid camera that can shoot B&W instant film.

Opportunity to see NOUVELLE VAGUE, one of the best movies of last year, on the big screen tonight, but I'm having a hard time mustering the energy to drive across town for a film I can stream at home and that, again, I've already seen once on a big screen. Aspect ratio is 1.37:1. But beautiful B&W!

Ok, now I don’t feel so bad about going down a BlueSky B&W shot rathole, and buying 10 80s/90s prime lens point-and-shoots (that ride in the back of my car…need to remember to take them out in the summer 🌞) to start shoot more film!

"The Elephant Man" David Lynch, 1980
extremely emotionally stirring film. im sad that john was born but im happy that he could live. it just felt very poignant, although that may have been aided by the heightened b&w. i hate when im watching elephant man and theyre mean to the elephant man

NADJA is so cool. Filmed using a Pixelvison B&W camcorder, a Fisher-Price toy, for a true otherworldliness.

There has been a Director’s Cut 4K restoration. Be sure to see it when it comes to town, especially if you are a Lynch fan. grasshopperfilm.com/film/nadja-d...
